Microsoft and Epic Games today announced Gears of War 3 surpassed one million worldwide pre-orders, making it the fastest pre-ordered Xbox exclusive title to reach this milestone in the history of the platform. Launching Sept. 20, 2011 , Gears of War 3 marks the conclusion of one of the most renowned sagas in video game history, and fans are already lining up to join Marcus Fenix and his fellow COG soldiers in humanity’s final stand against the parasitic Lambent and savage Locust threats.
“Consumer demand for Gears of War 3 has been incredible,” said Bob McKenzie, Senior VP of Merchandising at GameStop. “It is one of the few times in our history that we’ve seen a title hit this level of pre-order numbers four months out from launch, putting Gears of War 3 on track to be one of the year’s biggest blockbuster gaming hits.”

STREET ARTIST OG SLICK REUNITES WITH GEARS 3 TEAM

Today Microsoft and Epic Games announced that infamous graffiti artist OG Slick will be rejoining the team to contribute artwork to Gears of War 3. OG Slick’s art adds a layer of stark realism to the embroiled environments found in the game.
As an internationally acclaimed street artist, Slick first worked with the Gears of War 3 team at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), designing an exclusive t-shirt that marked the announcement of the game. His pioneering graffiti is currently featured at the Art in the Streets exhibition at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles.
“Graffiti has always been a part of the Gears universe,” said Epic Design Director Cliff Bleszinski. “The series’ signature Crimson Omen logo began as an in-game street tag that Stranded civilians used to mark off combat zones between COG soldiers and the Locust, so as we deepen the universe in Gears 3, we wanted to add additional street art elements to the new urban game environments. It made perfect sense to bring in a renowned artist like Slick as a part of the team.”
To celebrate the collaboration, OG Slick created a limited edition Gears of War t-shirt to debut at E3 2011 on June 7 in Los Angeles, based on one of his designs for the game. Starting June 8, a limited quantity of the shirts will be available exclusively through Hot Topic stores.
“I’m a Gears fan at heart and had a blast working on the ‘I GEARS LA’ shirt at last year’s show,” said Slick. “When Epic said they wanted me to graffiti in the game itself, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I’m honored they think so highly of my style to immortalize it in the game and with the Hot Topic shirt.”

The servers go dark at 2:00 AM PDT on Monday, May 16, after which you will be unable to connect to multiplayer matches. If you want to hang on to any of your retail unlocks earned during the Beta, please do not delete your Gears 3 Beta saved games—you can delete the Beta executable itself, but hang on to those saves! (Step-by-step details below.) Thanks again for playing, and we’ll see you again on September 20!
To delete the Gears 3 Beta but leave your saves intact:
*Go to the System Settings menu on your Xbox 360
*Select "Memory"
*Select "Games"
*Select the Gears of War 3 Beta (507MB) and delete it.

*Go to the System Settings menu on your Xbox 360
*Select "Memory"
*Select "Games"
*Select the Gears of War 3 Beta (507MB) and delete it.

Today, Epic Games announced that a special Xbox 360-only version of Bulletstorm called the "Epic Edition" will include early access to the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta. This new edition also includes bonus in-game content for Bulletstorm while playing online. The Bulletstorm "Epic Edition" will be available in limited quantities starting on Feb. 22, 2011 for $59.99.

The fate of Clayton Carmine in Gears of War 3 has been sealed, and Gears fans the world over have raised a heap of cash for Child’s Play Charity to the tune of over $150,000. We want to repeat that: Over $150,000. That’s huge! On Monday, Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski closed his stellar campaign demonstration with a mention of a new cooperative multiplayer mode coming to Gears of War 3—Beast mode. Revealed for the first time at E3 2010, Beast is a class-based experience that puts players in the boots of Locust forces leading an assault against their human adversaries. Want to explode your foes to chunky kibble? Try the Ticker. Enjoy heavy weaponry, a lumbering gait, and expressing your intentions monosyllabic-ally? Take the Boomer for a spin. Check out IGN’s Impressions of Beast, complete with video of the mode in action. We’ll be rounding up more previews as the week goes on.

Avatar Gear
Avatar clothing items will be released for Gears of War 3 on April 20th 2010. Some of these items will be based on the new armor shown in the trailers. Note: This is for Avatars for the Xbox 360 System.

There will be a fourth book set after the upcoming third book Anvil Gate but before the beginning of Gears of War 3. No further details have been released.

* Character Movement Speed (CMS) has been increased back to Gears 1 speed for multiplayer.
* Controls: Tapping "X" is now used for revives and meatshields, where holding "X" will switch weapons or getting ammo. This should help to stem the accidental ammo pickup when trying to revive.
* Controls: Tapping "Y" will result in a quick curb-stomp, where holding "Y" will end in a long execution.
* Sensitivity Controls are now on sliders from 1-10 as well as being separated for each, as in Gears 2 *UPDATE* Sensitivity Controls might go as high as 15!
