New To Skyrim

Hello fellow gamers~
I know that Skyrim has been like a forever to everyone.
But I just got the game, which is nice for me. c:

I need help about joining between the two fractions.
Stormcloaks and Imperial Legion.

I've just started up looking around at some of the forums on other sites.
And it's everywhere.
Though I can't say I follow up what they were discussing.
A bit tad confusing for me. sweatdrop

So, what I'm asking is... :
What's the advantages of joining one?
Pros and Cons between them?
Can I ignore/avoid it and not joining any fractions at all?

I don't know where to discuss this.
So I posted it here.
Sorry about that and if the discussion is repetitive and annoying.

Its pretty much the same either.way it all really depends on the jarls u like i go with the imperials because i like jarl.of whiterun the armor is pretty much the same just different styles

What about gameplay? Story line?
I've been seeing that Stormcloak is racist to everyone excepts nords and after the war Skyrim will be at it's weakest state, being not able to fend off Thalmor.
Also, that the imperials are puppets of Thalmor being under control and coward away when present. Thalmor is the bad guy I assume?

I would love to join the Rebellious side, but it seems it changes due to some... of my own reasons.
Yet, I also dislike the imperials.

Do I have the option to not join both factions? Or is it essential to join one. ( > . > )

It hasn't been a week yet.

And yes to mods! They are amazing~
I've been browsing for mods for hours.
Even though, I just started playing. xd

the first time i went with the storm cloaks i liked their.ideals i regretted it though the story plot is pretty much the same except ur on the.other side i think the storm cloaks had more killing though

What's the advantages of joining one?

They're pretty much identical, and it all really boils down to morality. The Stormcloaks don't like the Thalmor, the Empire lets them do whatever they want.

Yeah, there's no real reason to get involved with the civil war if you don't want to. There really isn't much reward to finishing it, either.

Oh, there is one more thing. You were asking if you could avoid joining any factions, right? Well, the main quest sort of railroads you into joining the Thieves Guild. You don't have to, but the game doesn't really give you any indication that you don't.

Like warriors, mage and so forth?

Yes, but for some reason the main plot kind of pushes the Thieves Guild onto you. I have no idea why, but, yeah. All factions are completely optional.

I usually join the stormcloaks, but that kicks Balgruff of his jarl throne, which I'm less fond of. xd
Half the jarls are replaced regardless of which side you take, the only real difference is that if you complete a factions quest, the main quest skip the part where they convene a moot. A big part of the factions quests is to take over strongholds and forts, that can be quite laggy, make sure you save before each new quest directive. 3nodding

Depends on your platform, if you play on your computer, you can change grafic settings, I have it on ps3, so I sort of roll with what I have, if the game lags, it lags, can't do much about it. Though it's usually fine on ps3, it's just those big battles, or perhaps a cluttered inventory in combination with alot of NPC's. razz

I was hopping you have some suggestion on one of those game boosters.
Or some UI to prevent things from crashing and lagging.

I never experienced lagged on PS3.
Even though mine works on PC. xd
Skyrim must be a detailed game, if on PS3 it lags too.
