I'd say wait a few months until E3. See what Nintendo announces. There's a good chance a 3DS Lite will come out.

it wont- no chance before 2013
Nintendo just established the 3DS userbase
and the 3DS in its current form wont be profitable
until April 2012- unless nintendo wants to
made a remodel and loose money another 6 months- they wont even go there.
Wasn't the DS to DS Lite only like, a 6 month gap?

No it was 2 years of a gap, and nintendo only made the light because it got terrible feedback about the design from everyone. People were finally happy with the light- and the only made the DSi to combat apple. This time nintendo really has no reason to rush a revision, none. I dont expect them to release a 3DS-light till after 2013- that seems more reasonable than anything.
Except they can build a new model with the second analog stick built on.

And I hear big complaints about battery life and the screen stoppers leaving lines on the bottom screen.

battery isnt something i think they ultimately care about right now, im sure the next will have one thats better, but on a scale of 1-10 if its more than likely a 6 or lower, people arent going to die any time soon. The screen grease issue, while annoying is somewhat avoidable, by cleaning the bottom part before u close it- and to not put pressure on it when closed. Nintendo already said they dont recognize it as a "fault" since its avoidable, and it only happens when you do what the manual says not to do *yes its literally in there*. Yet people complain.
No comment on the dual analog?
Not sure why the 3ds needs 2 anolog sticks. Its a handheld gaming system, not a controller. In my opinion, the less complicated, the better it is for Nintendo. Simplicity is what made the Wii sell so well. The DS wasn't so complicated either and it killed the psp in every aspect of the market.

I think Nintendo could make those all default features and increase screen size, allowing for a larger case which in turn allows for a longer battery life.

But that's just me being hopeful
I only got my 3DS for Resident Evil, and I was sad when the price dropped, because I could've lived without Mercenaries 3DS. I only REALLY wanted Resident Evil Revelations.

didnt you get the 10 bucks back if you paid for it at the old price?

I'm not sure. Didn't really keep up with what was going on with that, but I thought I heard you were able to download some games off of their marketplace for free or something like that.

Ohh, I'm sorry. I poorly worded myself when I said I only "wanted" Resident Evil Revelations. I was talking about the price drop of the 3DS, and I thought you were talking about getting 10 dollars back if you had purchased the 3DS at its normal price. I was trying to say I could've lived without Resident Evil Mercenaries 3DS since that was the only thing at the time pushing me towards the 3DS when it first came out, and I wish I waited instead of purchasing it right away due to the price drop of the 3DS. I don't have Revelations yet, that was just poor wording on my part.
