Okay, just in case someone who reads this post hasn't finished the game
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!
I just finished the game with what all guides, forums, and venues for information have considered the "best ending". First off, allow me to post a couple of articles for people, please enjoy them at your leisure.

Now, let me say here as an avid fan of Mass Effect in general why I am pissed off after beating this game. Is it because I dealt with the Reaper threat for good? No! Is it because there was no truly epic final boss fight? No! The reason I am pissed is because the game has always been about the player and his decisions and dealing with the consequences of said decisions. As I recall roughly from an ad for Mass Effect 1, A million choices, none of them easy.
Well, even one of the creators went out to say that the players' decisions would shape the ending. Care to tell me how? Everyone all across the interwebs, regardless of where they started in the series have gotten the same endings across the board. Why is this a bad thing? Simple, it made all of your decisions all the hard work of (as stated in another interview I've not cited here) "...50-100 hours of interactive story..." feel wasted, and yet a creator said that the team was creating an ending that would leave the majority of players satisfied....yet why are a majority of gamers pissed off?
I personally, support and am spreading words of this poll and even one where a fan of the series provided what in my opinion would be the most sensible ending choice ever. Now I'm sure many will disagree with me and I'll probably catch a troll or someone who just die-hard loved the endings, but I personally detested every second of it.
All those hours of decisions, hard and easy, of prep and conflict only to end in one of three equally self-destructive endings. Why not just say Shephard was about to deactivate the Crucible because of endoctrination, and instead of deactivating it you blew your brains out....remove the morals and decisions from it all together if you are going to give me an ending with negative closure or explanation.
Anyways, rant over.
