YUSUKE URAMESHl
I remember it from over a decade ago when it was newish, and remember the graphics weren't too good, and it was pretty simple (yet have heard it's about completely different and upgraded now.) Has it really changed alot over the years? 3 Friends and I checked it out back then when it was newish, is it worth checking out again?
Graphics
This is coming from the opinions of a person who played on and off since 2007-2015.
from all the past experiences, the graphic updates are more: scenery based. the atmospheres are beautiful, while character development is still lacking.
XP training. The "Grind" is Real
from 2007 to present the xp "Grind" has grown soft. 99's are no big accomplishment, some can go to an extent to saying that to have all 99's is not even jaw-dropping. World announcements were added in the game in 2012, every hour, someone has reached 99 in all skills as we speak.
For example:
Skills which one would have struggled to get 30k xp/hr back in the day are now 150k-600k xp/hr all skills have separate xp rates..
PVP
still real, wildy has been back and the pvp community is the same, all is different is new items.
PVM (bossing)
because of the hardcore "grind" has been lifted, bossing has become more common to players who before could not achieve the level requirements. There are a bigger variety of bosses with different modes/instances ect... Jagex is constantly stepping up there game and letting the bossing community continue to get challenges and obviously the "moo-lah"!
Updates
The game still to this day continues to have weekly and monthly behinds the scenes
Power to the players! "Poll-Scape"
The game over the last 2 year has moved to player bases updates and opinions. There are weekly polls and player submitted ideas. Example "Rune Labs", players submit ideas, the players vote or give their "support" so their ideas may come to a reality.
Customer Support, "Bots" and RWT
The biggest complaint in the game is still customer support and still is. Hacking and Scamming is still REAL, but Jagex can only give steps on how to prevent. Bots who in the golden age of Runescape do not control the economy as bad as it did. Places like wc, fishing, blue dragons, avaiancies have been contained to a level, but are always being banned and do not affect the game play as bad as it was. The short-lasted Trade Limit was lifted, jagex overcame RWT by giving in by selling "Bonds" which technically is gp in its own sense.
Membership and "Bonds"
The F2P world still exists and has expanded, players are allowed to test member skills to a certain level and have more reach around the game. "Bonds" which was mentioned before have are not only buyable from the Runescape store, but by other players. These bonds allow you to become members. They can be gifted or sold, and last 2 weeks. If used to its advantages you can become a member for "Free" while never having to spend real money again.
EOC (Runescape 3) vs. Oldschool Runescape (Runescape 2) "07scape" & Legacy
Runescape 3 has a different a combat system than it did back in 07. It has incorporated what modern MMO's have which introduced special abilities melee ,range, defense, and healing. I can go this forever, but to cut to the point it is different. Players voted back in 2012 to rid of this "eoc" and Jagex introduced oldschool a members only feature allowing you to play the game rolled back into 2008 on separate servers. It has its own monthly and weekly updates and it still very popular among the community. "Legacy" was later introduced in 2014 to players who prefer Runescape 3 in old combat style. It is a selectable option you can reverse back and forth while still being able to play on Runescape 3 servers.
tl:dr
I have talked long enough, short story, its your choice to play or not. Like many have previously stated there are lots of MMOs now compared to back in the day. You play what you want. heart
