Yeah, I would certainly use this function. I have a few friends that I don't know their Gaia names but don't care enough to ask them about it.

No because you can tell them your username in real life and then add them on gaia besides what if someone else knew your personal details it's safer not to. besides for some people gaia is where they can get away from the real world and if they're friends in real life aren't into the same stuff they may make friends on here that do.
