No way, Nobuo on gaia. surprised surprised surprised

How do you go about composing pieces for video games? Do you work with the game creators or is it a very seperate process? Are you told much about the context before hand, like if it's the background music for a town are you told what the town looks like or what species/race lives there? Do you even play some of the game to get a feel for it before you compose? I'm really interested because the music always reflects the game so well.

Also the piano collections version of Those Who Fight is an epic piece, I'm still trying to learn it but it's probably the best piece I've ever learnt. Not really a question, but I love it so much. :3

Hi Mr. Uematsu,

What was your favorite piece that you've composed?

Do you have a favorite Final Fantasy character?

If you could be any Final Fantasy character, who would you be?
Mr. Uematsu agreed to it!? Woah. He's my favorite composer of all time (have tons and tons of the songs from the game loading up my MP3 player!) This is a must see for sure!

My question for him...

Why, in X-2 and up, was the infamous victory fanfare removed from the end of won battles?

Nobuo Uematsu; How do you get your ideas for your compositions? What are the majority of your inspirations? And what is your favorite instrument?
To Zanarkand and Troian Beauty are some of my favorite pieces.
Also, what are your feelings on Domo-kun? blaugh

Thank you!
For Nobuo Uematsu:
I greatly admire your work in the FF series! heart
1. How do you get inspiration for your pieces? Do melodies come to you when you preview/learn the story of the game right away or does it take some time to find the perfect theme?
2. Do you compose your music on an instrument (like the piano) first, or do you use an computer program? If so, which computer program?
3. Do you ever have melodic ideas that come to you randomly (say, in the shower or when walking down the street) which you like but have no use for, then later try to incorporate it into your works for video games?
4. Which piece for the FF series did you find most difficult to write? Which one do you like the best? And, finally, which piece are you the most proud of?

I'm excited for the interview!
