Help us Write Guides for Gaia's Upcoming Help Portal

Hi Gaians,

Do you like to help other Gaians learn more about the site? Do you know the ins-n-outs of a particular part of Gaia? Well then, you have what it takes to help Gaia create the most awesome new Help Support Portal since the beginning of time!

We’ve started creating some of the articles, but we know there are some great writers out there, so we’re looking for editors who can help us create/edit “knowledgebase articles” like these examples:

How can I link directly to a post?

What are the options that appear around my avatar?

If you’d like to help write or edit some articles like these for the new upcoming Gaia Support Portal, please post the following:

• How many hours per week you might be able to volunteer (any level of help would be appreciated).
  
• Please post a sample of your writing below by either describing how something works on our site OR linking to a thread that you created, esp guides/how-to/help.
  
  We’ll give you full credit by having your username (maybe avatar too) prominently enshrined in a special section for helping us build it!

Sounds like an awesome idea ^^ My time is already tied doing various other things on the Site, so unfortunately as much as I'd love to help with this project, I'm not sure of an exact time frame I could volunteer. But... I'm sure I could spare a few hours (Maybe two or three) to this. Probably one of the most common questions I see asked in the Questions & Assistance Forum would be how to delete an Avatar now that's the option has moved from the Dress Up page (That and for Users who didn't know it existed before). Which I normally reply with:

You can delete your Avatar by going to your Account Settings (My Gaia> Account Settings (Preferences)) and looking under the option to change your Gender (Which is towards the middle of the page on the left). The only thing you'll ever lose when deleting your Avatar is Salon-bought hairstyles and any special skins you may be using at the time. Everything else about your Account (Friends, items, Gold, etc.) will remain the same.

Simone, you know I will always love to volunteer to help the site, and it's people. I'm fortunate to do so. One reason why I joined Gaia to begin with. It's a learning experience for all of us. It's taken into deep perspective and opportunity. Gaia deserves it's best. I'm willing to volunteer how ever many hours. I'm not too particular. If it helps the site, that's the most important of all.

Samples: I've had to walk through with users on how to basically report glitches, and strange activity going on in worlds such as Virtual Hollywood, Towns, Rally, etc;.

• Let's see...2-3 hours a day at minimum, times 7...14-21 hours a week, minimum. Some days I have more time so I can do more than the listed.

Someone and I were working on an addition to include Profiles v2 (technically v3...) into it but they made their own guide instead so it never got updated.

Non-Standard info: I've been around since Sept, 2003. Never really left the site from then until now. I've seen pretty much everything that's happened on this site, and from what I haven't been able to go to, I've been able to read and hear about from others (since that was one of my goals).
I even made a test on the different aspects of the site, gathering up info from all over to quiz people. Sadly, no one's passed with 100% yet and due to site changes it needs to be revamped.
I also used to work in the Q&F (Yes, Questions and FEEDBACK rofl ) but had to stop due to certain circumstances (was a good one). Picked back up in the Q&A, but then had to stop again due to circumstances.

I'm online at weird hours, though, so probably not much help there. I spend anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours online when I come. rofl Per week probably about 7 hours average, maybe more.

Another couple of tips to keep your lag to a minimum.

1. Open your menu on the lower right side of the screen in zOMG! click on options. Set your graphics to low.

2. Turn off or turn down the music setting in sound.

3. Close your pda, this will help enormously when in battle with many animated on your screen, or during any kind of mini boss or boss battle.

To change your eye color...
Go to your My Gaia page and click Account Preferences, it is the last tab and looks like a gear.
Under the heading "Account" you will see an option for "Avatar Gender" and underneath it says "First 2 changes are free. 10,000 gold is compounded for every extra change. You can also make changes by deleting your avatar and re-creating it. Note: You will lose any special skins or hair you have equipped; to regain special skins please visit Skin Tyte and purchase the appropriate potion. You can change your gender 2 more times before paying."

Click the highlighted words that say deleting your avatar. You can now change your skin or eye color and shape. Good luck!
