(( ahh my edit button has disappeared so I can't edit my earlier reserved post!!! ))
Well, that aside, I would just like to begin by saying that I am a HUGE fan of the work you've done for zOMG, Mr. Soule.
As for my questions:
- How difficult or easy was it for you to come up with the songs for each area?
- To expand of the above question, do you normally work with a large amount of references (such as clients explaining the mood they would like the song to convey, providing screenshots or concept art of what the song with be covering, etc) or just a brief idea or description of what the song should be about?
- In your business, how much freedom do you receive from clients for writing and composing songs? Do you normally have the option to decide on the mood and overall "feel" you want the player to have, or is that completely decided by your client?
- How did you come to work in this field? Do you find that your job, overall, is an enjoyable experience?
- What advice would you give to aspiring artists interested in following a similar career path to yours?
- Regarding zOMG, are there any songs that you are extremely pleased with? What is your favorite song you've done for this game?
- Now taking a look in the other direction, is there any song(s) you feel that did not achieve the full effect that you wanted to convey, or that you could have done a better job on? If you had the chance to go back and revise any of the songs, would you?
- Have you ever played any of the games you have composed for? If so, what are your favorites?
- Is there any time that you've rejected certain clients (whether the reason is lack of time, personal morals, etc.)? If so, do you regret your choice?
- Are there any times of games you specifically enjoy composing for? What is your favorite type of music to compose?
- Do you compose as a hobby as well?
- Finally, what would you describe as being your biggest achievement, career-wise? And overall in your life?
Thank you so much for your hard work Mr. Soule! I would be extremely honored if you were able to answer my questions!
