What's your worst realization?

I've had a rapist ask me out, I made jokes with him, viewed his poetry, and he also wanted to take me to my prom junior year. He was arrested the other day. It's crazy for me because I never really thought about how anyone could be anything, such as an artist or serial killer. Walking my dog last night kind of scared me even though I was protected.

What was your most shocking realization? Or any type of profound realization?

i guess for me it would be realizing how dumb i was as a teenager.
i dated a sociopath for two years without recognizing that he was one.

That 99% of humans are not dedicated to rationality and that 99% of people just believe whatever is popular.

A very good thing though is we still have the hard sciences and mathematics, two places where democracy is of no significance. At least there's still a place in the world where democracy has not corrupted it.

That the world is a sad sad place and we idealize adulthood as an adolescence but as an adult it is easy to become depressed with the worlds tragedy and your childhood light is destroyed. eek
