Welcome to Gaia! ::

--sorry i didn't read the whole thing, i have little patience, but obviously you do! OMG, i went to only one con, and i lost my friends for like, 45 minutes! We split up, then they went into the dealers room, and we're not old enough to go in alone. Our little 'chaperones' left us alone outside *those 45 minutes stuck w/ an anime 'hater, GAH IT DROVE ME CRAZY!!!*

I think topics like this one should be stickied.

Anyone agree with me? smile

Yes i agree with you.
Do you know how conventions get started?

A group of friends with a passion (in this case anime) get together and decide that they want to have a get-together of like minded individuals to enjoy anime.

They pool together (perhaps even take out a small business loan to front it) and start planning. They find a small place to have their convention and must be very frugal the first few years in order to wait for their popularity to grow. They invite people to come to their convention and try to do something unique that hasn't been done before.

It's not impossible, just takes a lot of hard work and planning.

I have been to Anime Next 2003 and 2004. And in 2003, I was a little overwhelmed by the "glomp me" signs. I had no idea what was going on. LOL! Anyway, this is a great thread. I should definetely show it to some of my friends that want to attend Anime Next this year as their first convention.
lol well I hate to flow with the crowd here but I really most say agree with everone here this is awsume. I wish I had found it eariler. I will admit I have not read therough the thing all the way *I actully put the thing on word and printed it off so I could read it my lesuire.* but this is really cool I went to AKon last year I remember wondering around amilessly cuz I was so happy like by everything that was goin on around and me. And I only bumped into my friend that I was with a few times. Mostly cuz he had a press pass and he was going to all the boards and concerts to write up info on them and to get info on new realses. But I am planning to go back to AKon this year and before that go to ACen in Chicago so lol I really need to read somthing like this. Great job with setting this up by the way.
I have questions again as to what qualifies as a bought costume.. sweatdrop

I bought a dress and matching jacket at a thrift store the other day and hope to make some significant alterations to it for my cosplay debut. Like, I have to completely reconstruct the collar area to make it look more like a blazer jacket, and dye the ruffles a different colour, add a pocket...as far as the skirt, I have to line it (it's slightly sheer sweatdrop ) and add some subtle pleating, plus make the top of it look like a waistband. (The costume isn't really supposed to be a dress, but I'm hiding that by wearing a white button-down blouse underneath the jacket and over the dress top. sweatdrop
But, since I didn't make the initial parts from scratch fabric, would it qualify? surprised Since different cons probably have different rules, I'm hoping to attend SakuraCon 2005. 3nodding
oh my god!! this is S00000 fo' shizzle!!! thang gu!!
is is definitely one of the best stickies! xd I love the detail and how informative it is. Its a good sticky for first time goers. Anime Expo 2005 though will be my 3rd con.
