Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but... going without footwear is not a good idea. You may be barred from local establishments, and it is a safety hazed. You name it, it's been on the ground, and you'll probably the lucky one to find it. common items can include bottle tops, pins, tacks, packaging staples, bits of broken glass, an assortment of spills, and etc... I've yet to go to a comic convention, but have been to plenty of other conventions. No mater how hard staff work to keep things nice, there is always someone who just doesn't give a rats A** about anyone but themselves.

Second tip: Look for security, and make sure you know what they look like. I had a run in with someone wearing a security shirt at a pirate festival, only to find out later they had no security at that festival. exclaim

At Smaller conventions there's a such thing as a "consuite". It's a place full of convention food for free :0 but you need to have your badge to get in. They don't have consuites at larger conventions because of the fact that it can get very expensive, messy, and annoying... Also some people just sit in there all day... and I literally mean ALL DAY... The usually have candy, cookies and lunch foods... some consuites actually make dinner for everyone or provide ramen and hot water. I've found consuites at many sifi conventions, along with a few smaller furry and anime conventions, but i was REALLY bummed when acen didn't have one, I was so confused crying
hope to see u at anime north guys heart
i didnt know that there are guidlines for this too... awesome!!!
This is definetly helpful for the first time animecon-goer! I also have a piece of advice fot the first timers!
Be yourself! Dont worry if you see alot of people with extremely impressive costumes and you are worried that you wont get much attention! Just go in, feeling great about yourself and having a great attitude, youre bound to have fun. biggrin Anime conventions are full of accepting people from all walks of life. Just be yourself and you are automatically accepted and everyone is your best friend. 3nodding
I'd like to go to a convention! blaugh ...but I'm really new to this site sweatdrop . How do I find out about conventions in my area? whee I'm sure there's a better place to ask this and I don't want to open a thread just for this (yes...I'm a newbie sweatdrop ). I appreicate the info. xp
