Hiding in the mist

This year is the last year at the LACC. I hope they go back to Anaheim, it was so much better there. LACC will be losing so much space with the loss of the west halls.
The new Pico Hall will be up by the time the West Hall is torn down so I've heard, which would mean there would still be a large amount of space.
It's been discussed a bit in the Anime Expo forums.

Interesting...A newer and bigger hall should tempt SPJA to stay closer to the main offices.

Yay! Can't wait for it to start. Only one thing worries me though...
This upcoming year my best friend and I wanted to go to- but we're con virgins and we have no idea what we're doing. XD We know we need to get tickets, find a way there/around, find a hotel, and possibly plan costumes but we feel like we're missing something important. (Or is it really that simple?) We don't know anyone who has been to the cons before so, quiet frankly, we're kinda clueless.
If there's any tips or some kind of guide you know of that you belive will help us write me a reply. Thanks. ^^
- Admission is available online (hotels will be available later). Instead of tickets, you get a badge to wear all weekend.
- Try to order your badge as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more expensive it becomes and less hotels will be available to you.
- When you snag a hotel room, try to get at least 4 people to stay with you, since it lessens the price everyone has to pay for the room.
- Even though everyone is doing it now, it's recommended that you grab your badge the day before the event. Even though it takes forever, not only does it give you more time to enjoy the con, but it gives you an opportunity to make new friends in the process.
- Be courteous to all of the guests and cosplayers. If you want to hug them, ASK FIRST.
- Bringing food is a must, since its definitely cheaper. Most of the surrounding restaurants can be pretty expensive in LA. Dry foods like instant noodles, granola bars, etc. are perfect since they don't spoil.
- Its going to be hot as hell. Bring water. Paramedics actually took in a couple attendees who passed out from the heat.
- Since it's LA, NEVER WANDER ALONE AT NIGHT...unless you're a big dude like me.
- If you can't grab one of the "Official Hotels," try booking with one nearby them. Many provide shuttling services, and can be a short walk away.
- Budget your funds. AX has a LOT of cool stuff at the dealer's hall and you may not be able to buy everything you want.
- Bring supplies with you (sewing kit, camera, snacks, etc). They come in handy.
- Try to familiarize yourself with the area (the surrounding area, along with the convention hall itself). The better you know what's around you, the easier it will be to get around. Which then leads to...
- Bring something like a cell phone, in case you get lost inside the convention hall. Its a handy way to link back up with your group.
...and last, but certainly not least:
- If you see Duran at AX, give him a hug. He's awesome!
