Fading alerts feature

Which types of notifications would you like to see most?

Friend posts a forum topic	5.0%	[ 210 ]
Friend updates avatar/profile	3.7%	[ 154 ]
I get a pm from someone	25.3%	[ 1065 ]
Friend logs into site	21.1%	[ 890 ]
Someone replies to my topic	17.9%	[ 756 ]
Someone quotes me in forums	17.4%	[ 732 ]
these alerts are annoying, I don't need them	9.7%	[ 407 ]

Most of these alerts are horribly irritating. I say implement "Someone replies to my topic" (which is really needed, as there is currently no easy way to find this out, or even keep track of your own topics) as it's the only one really needed. The other two important ones ("I get a pm from someone" and "Friend logs into site" wink are already being kept track of and frankly, impossible to miss unless you are not actually looking at Gaia.

the idea is fine, but let us have the option to turn off the feature if we want to be INVISIBLE to everyone. i don't want people to "stalk" my every move. my privacy is VALUABLE. thanks.

I like this idea, but can it please NOT be in the dead center of the page? If you're reading a long post, you lose your place easy with this thing. Also, it would be cool if you could choose what features to use & which ones not to use. I don't really care if my friend creates a new topic (this has to really suck for some one with 200 very active friends), but I do like being able to see when I get a new PM & haven't refreshed the page in a while.

I like the "quotes me in forum" part to hopefully be added soon x3

I like the idea. An on/off switch and personalitation(color, fonts, etc) would be nice too.

Things i'd use it for:
-someone replies to my topic
-someone replies to a topic I frequent (not made by me)
-someone quotes me

I actually didn't even think about that, but that is an EXCELLENT point!! This is an application that makes stalking some one very easy, which is NOT a good thing!!

Meh~I tend to check things rather neurotically anyway so I don't really need something bugging me constantly. I guess it would be useful for the active but away a lot crowd.

I like this, but as long as it works... I've had days where I'd browse around the site expecting a pm, and get no notification, but when I go to check there are new messages.

I actually like the idea of someone replying to a forum. It makes it much easier to check if someone has replied if your are roleplaying.
Also being able to click on the notice to bring you straight there might be useful as well.

None of these or others, would be of any use to me. So having the option of toggling on and off would be very nice.

I hope that this feature would NOT eliminate the speech bubble notification in the header. Some people might still prefer that - as I do.
(dont like being forced to give up a feature useful to me in favor of other people's choices)

I think the notifications should be:
New PMs, replies in subscribed forums and when friends get online.

Or make a big list of things for choices so people can check off what they want.
