While scaling odds is possibly more intuitive if you don't think of the practicalities, I think it would be jolly hard to implement. I think it's similar to the gambler thinking that if heads has come up 5 times in a row, it's more likely to be tails the next time.

I think that one of the other two options would be substantially easier to implement, though I'm sure we'd have heaps of Level 1s come in and ask "Why does my Philosopher's Cache cost me 25k to craft?" (I picked that number arbitrarily).

And for today's fun, I crafted 2 very low formulae for a friend. One worked first go and the other took 32 attempts. *sigh*

On the plus side, I'm at 66/80 XP for Level 4, and haven't had to craft anything for myself yet.
