Ah, okay, thanks! Wasn't sure if I just missed an announcement about their removal or something. ^^

The issue with the platinum caches appears to have been fixed since I have obtained a few platinums after resuming my cache opening.

Others should open some to see if its not just me, that would mean not needing to ask in AtS.

Opened 100 caches. The second cache I opened was Platinum. And I got more Platinum than I thought statistically possible. So I guess the issue is fixed?
