The best (only?) way to make a profit is to farm most/all the components needed to make philosopher's cache's, craft them, and sell them.

Leveling will not give you a steady income in the slightest.

If you're looking to make gold on Gaia in general, you can play booty grab a lot, you can sell a service/gaia product in the mini-shops if you have anything to offer, or you can buy things in "The Gaia Exchange" subforum at a low price and sell them for a normal price in the marketplace.
