Do you mean the Chance of success? Every formula has a chance of failing, which would consume the gold spent but keep the formula/items. The chance of success is how likely it is to succeed; Very High to Very Low.

Higher level alchemist have an increased chance of succeeding at a formula, so something like he The Worst Mistake (Chance of success: Very Low) would likely be successful for a higher-leveled alchemist.
