You'll notice the Philosopher's Cache is listed as having a Very Low chance of success. This is what that's like. You could get lucky, as you did last time, or you could get very unlucky, as you are now.

Here's a tip: hold off on making Caches until you've reached Level 2 by other means. You get a hefty accuracy bonus for being one level higher than the formula...and if you're two levels above a formula, you get a bonus so high you'll pretty much never fail. (This is why you don't earn XP for formulas two or more levels below you. As tough as it may be to get components, there's no challenge to the crafting itself at that point.)

But added info: make Orb Aggregates instead? They're a better chance of success till you get to level 2, but still make a (low but steady) profit. Or buy Aspiring Alchemist from the MP. Remember you only need 10 formulas to get to level 2!
