Honestly I think it has to do with the age of the American. The younger, and more particularly female Americans are obsessed with the accents. They're more stereotypical and assume you guys drink tea all the time and much on crumpets during the aftertoon with pinkies up sort of thing.
Fair enough, I drink tea but it's not common for me. Everyone enjoys tea though, right?
I can understand that stereotype as it's common day practise in a lot of peoples lives. But not in the 'tea and crumpets' sense - just literally a cup of tea. Like how people have coffee regularly through the day
I prefer tea and I'm American.
