Still, I keep a German-English woerterbuch in my bookmarks bar. :3 *really, REALLY misses her Zombie Keys FF app, because it was way easier than trying to remember the number combinations on all the umaluted letters*

Number combinations are a pain in the butt to remember. D: It took me forever to realize that on my computer (a mac) it's alt+u. XD So now I just try to remember that umlaut starts with a u so that's how I get it. x3

It was cool... Ctrl+Shift+:, and you could put an umlaut over just about anything. XDD *could make umlauted ys* And you could make eñes and eszetts and the little French c with a curl under it that makes it sound like an s...good times. But it was only for FF 2...

I tend to lurk more than post, but I'd love to pop in here occasionally so I don't forget everything I've learned. And for only having two years of German, you guys know quite a bit. I'm glad you started this thread!

ohhh any clue about the grammar? it's the hardest that I've seen in my life!!

Our German teacher was a really fun guy. He made the grammar really easy somehow. We had a bunch of little songs and stuff to remember the articles and possessives, and we remembered all the cases via superheroes. (Ah, the adventures of Kid Nominative and Accusative Man, and their days throwing verb footballs into Verb Hell, where verbs never ever return from. Except for once when one did.) It's not so hard if you can figure out what all the stuff is in English; most of the rules are the same, and German just has more conjugations. You've gotta write all those down and keep a handy dandy Verb Bible like we did. (See, I remember all sorts of fun things ABOUT German...just not how to speak it. XDD)

One thing that helps is when your language teacher shows you how a grammar point is used instead of telling you about it. My second German/Japanese teacher was a 'tell'er, and my first German teacher and my first Japanese teachers were 'show'ers. (For example, I don't know what the heck a 'gerund' is, but if you show me that it's an -ing verb, then I understand, since I use -ing verbs every day. If you show us what it does, then we learn faster...especially since they really have stopped doing serious English grammar lessons in schools. gonk )

Hi-chan and I actually learned all the grammar rules and such in the classes.
It's still hard to grasp all of it in such a time frame. sweatdrop
