Welcome to Gaia! ::

(I believe this belongs here....)

I want to buy a DVD of a Japanese movie (NOT anime), but I'm not fluent in Japanese, and I would need English subtitles to watch it properly. Would the Japanese DVD have an English subtitle track, or would I have to wait for the movie to be translated and sold in English?
Does anyone know?

I noticed that when I rent some movies here (Japan) that sometimes there will be English subtitles (never really good though)... Also there is a different region code on the DVDs here. So if your planning to watch it on your laptop, you will have to change the overall setting to Japanese (Which you can only change the language a few times X_x). Also it won't work on an America/other country DVD player.

Good luck with your purchase.
Usually the don't have English subtitles. Also, because of region code differences you might have to get a region free (they do sell those) DVD players. On laptops you can usually change the setting to play Japanese movies.
