Welcome!
With over 1,151,000,000 speakers worldwide, Mandarin has a surprisingly tiny presence on Gaia International. What's the deal? There's a handful of rarely active threads, with only a handful of pages between them. I would really like to gather up Gaia's Mandarin speakers & learners (and hey, if it's Cantonese or something similar, you're welcome too ♥) and get us in one spot, actively chatting and helping each other out. Even the simplest of conversations are helpful.

I would really like to stop seeing Mandarin used here and there in a few empty and inactive threads. Let's get together, get to know each other, and have fun! I am fine with English being used, and the topic doesn't always have to be Chinese/China/etc. I'd rather the thread be active than "pure". With that said, I can't get this thread started alone--so if you're at all interested, please just post!

Plans!
Some of the things I would like to do in the future include...a regularly updated list of Mandarin words, group translations, readings (probably in English though), and any sort of help anyone needs!

Don't know how to type in Chinese?
If you don't want to try yet, just type the pinyin. Otherwise, go to your Control Panel, find the Regions & Languages folder (or something close), go to Languages, and add a keyboard--Simplified Mandarin Chinese! You can find detailed guides all over the internet.

I am new to Mandarin, very new, so please correct me if I've gotten anything wrong in the OP. Thank you!

Mid-Autumn Festival
Went swimmingly! Lanterns and moons were given out at the beginning of the event, and moon lanterns were given out at the end of it. Chosan won a Princess Kaguya item for her festival-themed outfit!

China ♥ Japan Contest
I held a contest in support of Japan after the disaster, and in response to both the online presence of both pro- and anti-Japanese Chinese reactions to the disaster online. The winner was Deth Dealer!
