http://smart.fm - always a good site, always worth mentioning, even if you're not looking for sites
xd
http://japanesepod101.com - it's a podcast that teaches all levels of Japanese. You can download all of the current episodes for $15 USD
I use Genki II, which so far is even better than the first one
if you have an iPod Touch or iPhone, there's some good Japanese apps to check out:
Kotoba - free offline dictionary
shinkanji lite - an app for studying kanji, shows stroke orders really nicely
Japanese flip - flashcards with a spaced repetition formula. Contains four levels which correspond to the jlpt levels, but you're also able to add your own words. Costs $5 though
well a lot of these things are free, but sometimes free things are better
xp
Edit: I completely missed the Christmas part lol.
Genki 2 is a good book, and Japanesepod101 is also good. If you're looking for a new mp3 player I highly suggest getting an iPod Touch, they're amazingly useful in every way imaginable, including studying Japanese.
