I know a lot of people on this site have an interest in Japan, but how many have actually been there? I lived with a Japanese family for a month last year, and I'm looking to make some friends so we can talk about our trips there. ^.^

I lived in Ise for a month. ^^ We also visited Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo. x3

Lived there for a year while attending a specialized college center.

Did you like it?

It was a unique experience. I was an hour outside Kyoto and about an hour and a half outside Osaka by taking the express trains. Living in dorms was pretty fun, especially since I was one of a handful who had a Japanese roommate. The locals were really friendly and you didn't get any of that negativity people spout about being in Japan. It obviously wasn't some magical place since a city with 100k people doesn't offer a whole lot to its residents, but I like to think it was an authentic (albeit rural) Japanese lifestyle experience.

I lived in Ise for a month. ^^ We also visited Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo. x3

Ooh. Not exactly neighbors but not that far. I've never been to Ise ... I want to see the shrine, of course. smile

When you were in Japan what did you do? I mean, I came here to work so my experiences have been a lot different than a typical foreigner overseas. Longest I've ever had off in a stretch was ... probably time I used to go back and visit the family in the US.
