Totally going to Chengdu in coming year...are people there nice?
It all depends who you'll meet. You could fit in with the Africans cause they take up 2/3 of the foreigners population in southern china. Be aware of the pickpock fags around you; never carry a wallet.. just stuff some money in your pants and leave your passport/ID in the luggage. Avoid wearing backpacks if needed.

Kidnappings? Yeah, it's true... depending on the circumstances.
Stuff like owing money to underground mafias, not paying monthly shark loan fee, rape, fight etc.
For foreigners, they tend to back off cause there's really no issues unless it relates to business.
If you're going to nail chinese girls, I'd recommend using condoms cause abortions are 'praised' which means they ******** without protection. And that equals to high rate of HIV/AIDS & STDs.
