Wow I can't believe how crazy Australian politics has gotten. I thought the civil war within the Federal liberal party and the elevation of Tony Abbott to the leadership was unbelievable enough. But the events in NSW have trumped even that for craziness- Nathan Rees is overthrown by his own party's right wing and now we have an American born woman for the NSW Premier.

I have no doubt some Victorians, perhaps even John Brumby, are laughing at all of this.

I told you the NSW govt was worse than Vic, and now the whole nation can laugh at the truth. The problem with it is that even though everyone didn't like Rees, they'd rather have him than fat ol' Barry O'Farrelly. I don't like how he looks anyway. -_- Too dayum scary. (Probably why people liked Kevin Rudd, cause he looks so damn cuddly! )

Well, I'm happy that Keneally got it. (: Even though she is American-born, and has a rather odd accent, she is still female represent. mrgreen

Is next year the next fedral election? Already? Urgh, I turn 18 next year. That means I have to vote doesn't it? sad

Depends on when you turn 18. If it's after September then chances are you won't be forced to vote-in fact it would hard for you to vote since people who have just turned 18 are allowed only 48 hours to register their names on the electoral rolls after an election is called.

@Shells: I actually don't think Tony Abbott's that bad. He might be a staunch Catholic and against abortion and gay marriage but Rudd is catholic as well and I doubt he would be happy to sanction either one. And Abbott has promised to take action against climate change, with measures that he said would meet the targets without the need for an ETS. I think the liberals were sensible in blocking the legislation from passing. The public really needs to know the details of the ETS before we're stuck with a tax that's possibly even bigger than the GST.

Ok, well I am in late June so I guess I have too. Goodie. I guess I should do that when I get back. sad Although if shells is right then I may have already got it. If so maybe my mum enrolled me already. I wasn't home for my 17th.

I have to sit an examination tomorrow. It's the LSAT- Law School Admission Test. I have to score a high mark in order to be eligible to apply for the Melbourne Jurist Doctor. I don't really know how well I'd do in it. Wish me luck everyone.

Oh, I am confused too. It would just be so much easier if you just got registered automatically when you turn 18. At least I wont have to worry the Australian Bureau of Statistics when the next census comes. My mum, my brother and I all work for the ABS when there is a census.

3. I facepalmed when the ETS got delayed again. Srsly, the Liberal Party is WAY too conservative which - I agree on a quote, "Makes Howard look Green". I see the ETS as a great incentive for businesses to apply 'greener' technologies or practices for their business, not a way to destroy jobs. It should be a good opportunity to create new jobs that are more sustainable. Everyone knows - something has to be done.
