I'm doing some research for a book that I want to write that takes place in Ireland. Sadly, though, I have never been to the country although it is at the very top of my list of places to see before I waste my life away.

What I am needing to know is of the following things:
1. What are the gangs called in Ireland? I know that in England, they are called Chavs, but I doubt they are called that in Ireland.

2. If you happen to live near or in Sligo on the wester most cost of Ireland, what are some of the more popular places to "be seen?"



I'll think up more questions as I do more research but if you can answer these, that would be spectacular.

Don't know much about the west coast, sorry I live in Kildare.
