I'm thinking of learning another language.
I'm considering Norwegian because it's closer to English in terms of grammar and I can already speak German well enough (it's not flawless or near fluent but i understand most things, language partners would be nice).

It's not a definite decision though. It might be helpful if you fling some ideas at me. Please?
I don't mind, I'd just love some suggestions from people.

Japanese is being ruled out...tried for a long long time and just came to a horrible mental block... so no thank you. sad

Thanks for your suggestion. That's supposed to be closer to Japanese but without the chinese characters right?

Yeah, you can read everything in Korean phonetically. However, the grammar is very similar to Japanese grammar and it is more difficult for English speakers to pronounce (than Japanese). But if the problem you had with Japanese was kanji, then hey, you can try Korean!

How about Dutch? If you like German.

I'll give both a look for sure! Yeah it was just memorising the kanji which gave me a block..I'd just say the hardest languages for me to do would be stuff like polish or stuff linked to that.

Thank you. yum_puddi yum_puddi cat_smile
Try Esperanto. It follows english grammar rules, and is pronounced phonetically, as well as spelled phonetically. Great language to learn for fun.

Fun to learn but it's just like learning lots of languages...it never really took of and it's probably really still incomplete I'll look at it but it'd've been better if it did take off. xD

Actually the language has been complete for around a hundred years or so. There are over one million speakers of fluent esperanto, who choose to use it on a day to day basis with other speakers.

Interesting, then I'll definitely consider it.

Stuff like German is a big contrast though since it's the most widely spoke language in europe. I will DEFIANTLY take a look. i've herd some people speak it before and it's not too hard to understand.

If esperanto fails, try irish gaelic. Very interesting language to learn, and if you learn it, I will marry you.

My ethnic back ground is irish, so I love hearing irish gaelic being spoken.
It warms my heart.

I'm English so i don't think i have that effect as much. You're american right? A lot of Americans are either Irish or Jewish it seems. No-one cares about the English.

I have a friend from Ireland, she has a lovely accent haha.
I'll have a look at both languages...any language I don't understand warms my heart. xP

I can always tell when someone says they're of irish decent... the irish families must've moved in everywhere lol. Maybe you should visit one day.
I knew a Meehan in primary school...now I only know Meegnahan now. haha.
