God damn it, Aeo. Now you make me look like the DnD nerd. razz

Drizzt is a Drow hero fighting for the forces of good, his kinsmen hate him with an even greater passion than other things they hate such as flowers, happiness and sunshine. He's one of those recurring characters with a few books about him and stuff. He also showed up in the Baldur's Gate games and that is how I know of him.

And for the record, I never even played a pen & paper game of DnD, all I know about it is from videogames. gonk

Just because I like the race and know about that spider queen and such doesn't mean I'm knowledgeable about them.
It's like comparing the Drows to the Aztecs, I know something about them but I'm no expert on the myths and legends.

Do you pronounce it "Dee en dee" or "Dee AND dee?" I've been saying the latter and I think that's why all my really nerdy friends cringe when I enter into conversation with them.
I never pronounced that word. I think I would go for "en" as that is Dutch for "and" and it's easier to pronounce it that way.

It's an acronym for "Dungeons and Dragons" so it's not wrong to pronounce it like you do, I guess.

DnD is a recent add on to my geekiness. I am currently playing in a 4th Ed game right now. And thank God the rules for Drows have yet to be realised for 4th Ed.

Not a big fan of Drows personally. I much prefer Gnomes! Because Gnomes rock, too bad they are not a base player class anymore, now they are in the Monster Manuel.

It's sad, I might actually out nerd most people in general, with the exception perhaps of Gel. Two weeks before I move to Houston, and my main pissed off point is that I have to leave an l5r game where I have been playing for a year and just made third insight rank and I am totally miffed that I have to leave just before all the s**t/plot hits the fan. *sigh*

I don't think myself personally smart enough to be considered a nerd, so I think I fall under geek instead, but this is just my personal view point.

That sucks that you have to leave the L5R game. I miss being in an L5R game. I was in a seventh sea game, but having Honor has made it so we have to limit our games to one a week and 4th Ed. won.

4th Ed is a fun system to run, but I miss the crunchiness of 3.5, 4th ed is very arbitrary and very much a story teller's system, which is good and bad in it's own ways. I liked knowing that all monsters followed the same rules I did in 3.5, the same cannot be said for 4th. And there were admittedly times when 3.5 rules because too much of a pain in the a** to follow. I read books on Quantum physics for fun, and there were times where I couldn't make sense of a rule in 3.5, leaving me very frustrated and unhappy with the system.

All in all, I will probably play more 4th ed rather than sticking with 3.5 like I had anticipated, but ultimately, there are systems that I prefer over DnD any day of the week, like deadlands, l5r and WoD.
