Well Ronin, methinks you should get some more info on this cheating eye (I don't watch the anime....actually I fell behind and never caught up, maybe I should do that someday!) and then come up with the guidelines for a clan or the character itself!

Ah I see, thank you for the aid! As for the cheating eye, I refer to it as thus simply because it's nearly dragonball-esque in it's creation. The main characters there needed something bigger to showcase their ridiculous gains in training, so newer, perhaps even more ridiculous things were created. As for the eye, so far the info that Kishimoto supposedly revealed is that it can see more faster and with greater clarity at up to three times normal human sight. Which is in addition to the ability to use all the elements as well as quickly copying and then mastering techniques. Also not mentioning one of the villains using it to take over 6 lively bodies to do his dirty work . With all that in mind though, I thought of one way to balance the scales in the form of the gift that keeps on giving (Experience Penalties). I still may wait until more information bubbles up from the series however.

One of our members came up with a clan with similar traits! Like a sniper-esque eye thing, where they are hired as spies and stuff, photographic memories, etc. They have drawbacks, yes, but it's pretty much the same general idea. ^^

I think you should talk to Katz, I think it was him that came up with it! Katz the Nine Lives...or Katz of the Nine Lives? I don't remember off the top of my head but I'll tell him to come post if it was him!

Amazing how two people came up with almost exactly the same name for the eye lol. I'm still only up to about as far as the show in Naruto and just beginning Shippudden in the manga, but a friend told me about the Rinnegan and I called it a gameshark code. I don't know too much about it or where the series is going from there (don't spoil it for me). I didn't decide to try makign the Rinnegan for the guild, because I didn't know more about it and I think the guild was around before it started so that just may make conflicts. There was also the fact that its powers would be troublesome to balance out.

The clan I was thinking of though is one with a sniper like eye. There limit does not focus on attacking jutsu, but rather support, mainly escape techniques and seeing from far off distances for spying. If you're interested in helping me I don't mind. I'll send you what I have so far. Just pm me.

Also how is it looking so far Maya? I do have a picture of the what the eye should look like, I just didn't send it as yet because I wasn't too sure on the progress.

Ohh and yes to all who stop by wondering whether to join. You should. Clans, journals, artists, Naruto. We have it all here. Be one of the founding fathers (or mothers) of a clan or just a strong shinobi and watch the world of Naruto be built around you.

The Rin'negan is like an unpleasant mix of the Sharingan and Byakugan with a hefty dose of cheese to say the least.

Hawk vision eyes eh? Sounds interesting and it certainly holds potential. I've tended to find myself looking for the close-range kill, but I'd be glad to offer any thoughts such as they are.

Heh. When I first joined Gaia, Baylu didn't want me looking like a noob, so she gave me a lot of gold to dress up my avi. She requested that I always wear the clown nose as a way to repay her.

I assure you, no one wears bright orange. Or battles in front of a school. Do we even have a tournament arena...? No..no just the sparring rings and the training grounds...how odd, that we don't fit that "Narotard" label, yet it's been given. I think it's "Narutard" anyhow, but regardless.

Yes, it's true that some ninja are assassins - so are mercenaries. But then, ninjas can be mercs - and that requires not so much stealth as wit and at least some sort of power. People aren't born ninja after all.

According to Wikipedia (and though I hate to reference it, most naive people understand it best),

Our shinobi are well trained and well versed in what they do - though some specialize in their specific strengths. Please refrain from judging us.

As for ninja! That's leads to my favorite subject: Samurai. The term ninja is a post-WWII contraption, in reality a shinobi (or kunuoichi, using the correct terms) was anyone who practiced the art of concealment and engaged in covert military operations. Taken in that sense it could be applied to any number of people, making it important to note that samurai could, can and were shinobi as well. I'll keep my leash short here, but of the four roles wikipedia has attributed to ninja, the last (assassination) has not seen a single successful recorded assassination in history. Couple close calls, but most assassinations were a bit simpler then that. Oda Nobunaga? Assassinated by one of his generals.
