Speaking of which, I need to make stats for that colossal thing.

I was wondering when he'd get around to doing that.

Judging by the size of the Galaxy class vessel in the picture and its crew complement. I have made a rough calculation of how many residents are aboard the DS 12 station.

Length wise, straight down the middle stem, 39 Galaxy class vessels could make up three columns. 13 in each column. Width wise, and all remaining gaps on the sides, 36. That's 75 in total.

75x400= 30,000. (400 is the normal complement of a Galaxy class vessel.)

Now to account for 3D shape and simply multiply that number by 4.

30,000x4= 120,000.

So it seems that DS 12 can hold less then or, more then, 120,000 personnel. Now, lets find out how many of these personnel are in what category. DS 12 can hold 47 ships as everyone is aware.

47x400= 18,800. (I used the highest number and decided to just go with it. In this case I chose 47 Galaxy class vessels.) It seems that DS 12 can hold roughly 20,000 ship crew personnel. What about the other 100,000?

Well, how many decks does DS 12 have?... 7. That's right, (I think xd ) 7 decks. Command center, holo decks, promenade, docking bays, etc. So, we'll divide 100,000 by 7. (I did it by calculator.) 14286, roughly, would be on every deck. A tenth of this number would have to be on every deck in security, medical, officers, etc. In order to keep control and watch for baddies, heal the wounded, once again, etc. --& That would equal 1429.

1429x7= 10,003. 10,003 divided by 4= 2500, for every division. 250 of which would be officers.

Anyways, I am done my wacko assumptions and calculations... You decide or, get a more canon answer.

I'm quite a nice guy as long as you don't provoke me. play Armored Core for Answer with me. xd
lol, I was actually just playing for answer...
I was fighting the pain in the a** answerer fort.
Finally beat it with just 2 swords.
Swords / grenades brought the Answerer down for me.

But that discussion is way off topic. xd

.........................

Also, I'm amazed you did all of that Balvear. You REALLY must have been bored.

It seems that by your calculations, Deep Space 12 would have around 600,000 Hull Points and 262,500 Shield Points. Even cutting hull in half (as it likely wouldn't have starship-grade hull plating) still makes massive numbers.

I may play with the numbers a bit to make something decent, because that's just insane...
*Locks the Thread up for the night*
Well, even though it's insane numbers... it kinda makes sense.
A base is designed to be able to withstand attack, such is the nature of anything with the word "base" in it. Obviously, if it's the furthest station from federation space in the beta quadrant under their control, then it'll obviously look quite OP, because it's their foothold really.... Though, it sounds to me like you plan to allow DS-12 to be capturable.

Lets move onto stats and cost. Displayed bellow are the original stats of a Galaxy Class vessel, designed in calculation by Ryugi. To get the stats of the DS 12 station, we'd simply multiply 75 by 4.

Hull: 8000x75x4= 2,400,000
Shields: 3500x75x4= 1,050,000
Shield Emitters: 1750x75x4= 525,000
Engines: 3000 N/a
Sensors: 2500x75x4= 750,000

So, gathering all the numbers in from a galaxy class star ship and considering that its a fairly new vessel because they were constructed as battle ships for the dominion war. I'd say these numbers are fairly accurate.

DS 12 Stats
Hull: 2,400,000
Shields: 1,050,000
Shield: Emitters: 525,000
Sensors: 750,000

Cutting everything in half would leave you with, 1,200,000 hull, 525,000 shields, 262,500 shield emitter points and 375,000 sensor points.

Cost is not exactly the hardest thing to figure out. Just rinse and repeat.

1,000,000x75x4= 300,000,000 Credits.

This thing is one expensive city/field ops base.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART 2: Downsizing cost and stats to be reasonable.

Lets use the Danube's stats. That will give us a VERY humble beginning. Then, shampoo, rinse, repeat.

Hull: 700x75x4= 210,000 (I am sure Ryugi will be more then pleased with these numbers. wink )
Shields: 500x75x4= 150,000
Shield Emitters: 250x75x4= 75,000
Sensors: 400x75x4= 120,000

You can fiddle with the numbers but, this is the range a star base, this size, would go up to. From 75,000 as the lowest number, to 210,000 as the highest number. Cut the stats in half and you got 105,000 hull, 75,000 shields, 37,500 shield emitters and 60,000 sensors.

Final stage of stat analysis:
Hull: 50,000 (Rounded down from the half number of 105,000.)
Shields: 30,000 (Once again, rounded down.)
Shield Emitters: 18,000
Sensors: 30,000

Form here its all about making the stats more accurate, and Ryugi, this is probably the lowest the station stats should go. Onto cost.

25,000x75x4= 7,500,000. As you can see the station is still a hefty price for being such a hefty size. half is 3,750,000. Half again is, 1,875,000.

PS: I went into towns advertising our guild. No spamming of course, just once at the top and once at the bottom of every topic barton.

'If anyone here likes Star Trek, might I interest you in a detailed guild called, "Star Trek: New Frontier".'
You know Balvear, you may be annoying as hell at times, but when you put your mind to something, you don't skimp on anything.

I like that. xd

I'm thinking of looking at the way I've created the other stations, and going off of that. The biggest station (Defensive anyway) can hold 7 ships for refit and repair. Deep Space 12 can hold roughly 7 times that many vessels either in a station-keeping mode or docked to various docking booms, ports, and bays. I may decide to multiply the stats for the defensive station to get something meaningful.

Or, if I go with the ship stats approach, I'll probably add the engine stats to the sensors stats, since the station should be able to detect things at extremely long ranges.

That likely won't double for weapon range or health of weapons, since DS12 would have more easily exposed weapons, and the sensor stats would be too large to effectively portray accurate weapons.

I just lost most of my respect for you... "annoying as hell", wow, and I thought you were tradition oriented, because of the way you always tried to follow Star Trek to the letter. I never once thought of you as annoying or anything bad - all those times I was trying to improve the guild and make it more solid by giving out my suggestions. Then you go and say that I am "annoying as hell at times"? That cuts deep dude and its rude.

This whole time I thought we were starting to get along and then bam! I find out that you dislike me for questioning you and suggesting things and making mistakes like everyone does. There might be some other reasons too...

As for the complement to my obvious skills. Ya, I know, I put my time into making my profile for the guild so, that should've been an obvious sign that I try my best at times. Thank you.
*skips through haphazardly*

Tra-la-la-la-la 4laugh
Whoa, dude...

I gave you a compliment, and you attack me? I'm not idealized like Picard or Kirk, here. I'm a human being, and whether we like it or not, we all have faults, me included. One of my faults is rambling and wordiness. I'm sure you've noticed it in my talks etc. In fact, you've called me on it at east once.

The fault of yours I was explaining here was your inability to see when enough is enough. I value input from members about the guild, I really do, but getting it every day and all the time (and from one person and ONLY one person) is very very tiring when I have lots of things going on, and am constantly defending my choices for the guild and its processes from someone's comments. I'm just one person, Balvear. THAT is what is annoying at times. sad

To respond to your statement as follows...

We ARE getting along. I was essentially saying that despite the annoyance you sometimes cause with the large quantity of criticism or suggestions, you are terribly thourough in your evaluations and your work, and I admired that.

Honestly, the concept of you as a mod flashed through my mind for a moment, but after your outburst over my small amount of criticism (and after giving you a compliment nonetheless) I don't think that's a viable option right now.

If I've deeply offended you with my comment, then I'm sorry, because that was CERTAINLY NOT my intention.

Meh, I let things slide. I am not one to hold a grudge and I am definitely not one to let things as minor as insults last too long in my memory. Only people whom have offended me for long periods of time go on my permanent annoyances list. Example: my father, been an a** hole to me my entire life and still continues to be one. He is on my permanent annoyances list. That's 14 years of bull s**t from him... At least as far as I can remember - first memory was when I was 6.

* sigh * I said you were being rude, I never said you offended me deeply... Want a hug? xd

EDIT: "Outburst"? I never yelled or became angry. I made a comment about my dislike for your comment. I never meant it to sound like I was outraged. Oh, I also retract my "I just lost most of my respect for you", comment. That was WAAAAAAY over board. sweatdrop
(walks in from long term job, finally back)
wow... I step out for a bit and all heck breaks loose...
Without me there to even enjoy half of it...
anyways, if it would be conveinient for anyone, would someone be so kind as to fill me in on missions, new stuff, etc that I missed?
and also wondering if the current RP with Tene'cha is still there or not...
