With current activity levels and the fact that just about all of the regulars already have systems, I don't think it'll be a hard race to win.

I have to scan a system for 5 days IC to lay claim, right?
Umm...sure?

EDIT: It's 5 posts over several days/weeks IC

Well, I can't find that index about colonization, and how many days it takes, anywhere. I also can't find an index to tell me how many credits I would get back if I sold my ship.
The rules for claiming a system are in the QuadComm mission roster at top of the list, and the stuff about reselling your ship is in upgrades and parts section.

Thanks skipper! biggrin
I'm baaaack!
....
And no one's on....
I see how it is.... lol
But I want opinions real quick. Should I get a phaser turret to defend my colony? Or should I save up for a defence station?
I'm getting a stationary defence because my current defence is a 22nd century class bird-of-prey, and I think it would be put to better use in missions with me...
Or, I could start temporarily hiring people to defend the colony.... Hmm....
Opinions?

How far out is your colony?
How much would be the going fee?
And the station would be a better idea as it has much better stats. Your turret will get blown away by strong invaders.
My colony is in the Antilion system, sector-F I believe. It's kinda out of the way of most current guild traffic, and I don't expect much in the ways of invaders, I have to leave it some defennding assets though, if only as a precaution.
If I was to hire, I can say I can't pay out very much just yet at a time... it would be probably poorly paying until I get another colony vessel...
But currently I gain 3200 credits a week for colonists, going up by 200 every other week. I could probably pay that out, but that's nothing compared to the even simpler patrol missions. I might as well scratch off that option for right now...
And I know that a turret is weak and would easily lose a large engagement, but note I don't expect any trouble anyways, i'm just too far away lol.

Buy 4 pulse phasers and you'll be set for life. A sensor array would be agreeable too as it would increase sensor and weapon range. If you were paying higher then my current employer I would definitely defend your "air space", but its all percentage so, all I would need is a second ship or, a Miranda class and I would easily make 5000 credits. That would be every 5 days though.
Well, things aren't exactly "heated" at the moment, so I wouldn't try to buy alot of defenders when they may not be needed. Now, if people start attacking systems, then yeah, I might, but for now, I'd invest in your system.
Yeah I know if I left the system sitting there all alone, no one would care...
But it's a precautionary measure, nothing more...
Also I should seeing as i've been trying to purchase based more on how I would really act in-character rather than in OOC logic.
Well, significant threats haven't made themselves known IC either, so I'd feel pretty secure for the time being. Especially since you're Klingon. xd

Well, besides the fact that the Federation and Klingon Empire are allies, I would tend to think that we'd send aid immediately. After all, we're "Honorable". (Wulf 359.)
I'm still trying to work on my character.

But I'm having writers block... >w<
