Mankind, weary and distraught, have been brought to their knees by a strange creature known only as a Griever. Hiding in the city of Solace, they lived peacefully. Then, their chance to strike back came when a power was unearthed. This power came in the shape of rare gemstones with strange runes on them. After selling the stones to the public, it was soon discovered that they could be activated by a unique person known as an Elemental. Thus, the Rune Knights were born.
