Diamond Cache's Guide to Tribute Items

-----Now, the first thing you're probably wondering is: what the heck is a tribute item? A tribute item is a Gaian item that pays respect (or pokes fun) to a certain person, place, event, etc. in the real world. Tribute items are often created to recognize the deaths and accomplishments of famous and influential people, but sometimes they're based off of pop culture, such as viral videos or popular books and television shows. Now, Gaia has a lot of items that pay tribute to people and pop culture (with many of these in Chance Items), but this guide is only going to include items given away for free, because if they're making it accessible to everyone, you know it's important. And, copyright laws. But I'll keep off that topic. Keep in mind that I won't be covering Cash Shop items, Alchemy specific items, directly sponsored items, or major event grants (like Halloween, Christmas, etc.)

-----This guide is divided into two sections: Items from Daily Chance, and items not from Daily Chance. Each item will include a link to the MP listing (click on the picture), a description of why the item was created, and outside links to that person/place/event/etc. If an item has Retired under it, you can no longer obtain the item unless you buy it off of the marketplace.

-----As of 2012, Gaia has been creating many more of these items than in previous years with most of them being on the down-low. If you know of a free to obtain tribute item not on this list, please post the marketplace link to the item so I can add it to this list. Another BBC Sherlock tribute done by Reapersun, this item is in commemoration of February 21st, 2013 (or 2/21/13), a date that resembles the address 221B Baker Street, the address of Sherlock in the original stories and in the BBC adaptation. The hat is the same hat the character Jim Moriarty is wearing in the episode "A Scandal in Belgravia."

Though I did want to point out that I believe the Double Rainbow (and Starmony, I'm pretty sure) was originally a secret grant on a profile. I've never seen them granted in the daily chance, and I thought they were no longer obtainable. I could be totally wrong on that, though.
