Introduction:
Hello and welcome to my guide for the new to Gaia. If you are not new to Gaia, you should probably leave, seeing that this information may not be benificial to you. But hey, you never know. Please allow me to be the first to formally welcoming you to GaiaOnline! Glad you could make it.
Gaia is a sight where many things are possible, for it is founded on many different areas such as the casual chatting to hard-core roleplaying. Even some of the older Gaians who have been playing for years have yet to explore the site completely, seeing Gaia seems to update and make changes to it's pages constantly. Why, just over the year of 2006 Gaia has made many drastic changes; some for the better, some for the worse. What's so wonderful about Gaia is that it is founded on the people. Polls and chatting areas are disighened to see what the Gaian population really wants. When Gaia will make a change, the change will get either a postitive reation or a negative reaction and then the Moderators can work from that.
Explore the site and see what interests you most. If you have yet to view the main page of Gaia, I suggest you do some some time soon, for that is where all the updates and important information enteres gaia. [ Here is a link to the Gaian Home Page ].

Newbie: A new player. Yes, we all started out as newbies… It’s almost like the circle of life.
n00b: Not a newbie, although many mistake it as so. Pretty much a flaming word for idiot, small and stupid child, or just a plain insult that no won really understands… it’s just fun to say and makes us all feel cool inside.
PM: Private Message.
RP: Role Play; commonly typed as simply roleplay. Roleplays play a big role in Gaia and many people only come on Gaia for that reason alone. Roleplaying is when you, as you might have guessed, “role play” as a character you either create or choose to be. More will be explained later.
RPC: Role Play Character. Commonly posted in signatures with a picture of a “character”.
Flaming:
Godmodding: A rule that states you cannot control any characters other then your own and cannot be all-powerful, hinting the word “God”. Mostly used in roleplays and battle threads.
AA: Avatar Arena. Avatar Art.
Avatar: Your Gaian character you can customize to your own bidding. Seen in the upper-right hand coroner of the screen.
OOC: Out of character. Commonly used in roleplays. Indicate you are talking in OOC by putting any form of brackets around your OOC text. You will be deathed by other roleplayers if not.

Money… glorious, wonderful money…
The first step to earning money on Gaia is by firstly, not calling it money, but “Gold”. It is the Gaian term for this glorious money we all seek and love. If you do not call it gold, people will mostly see you as a newb and poke you to see if you squirm around just for fun.
I shall tell you now that begging will not do here on Gaia. If you beg here, you will be tortured, flamed, and possibly raped by most of the community, forcing you to delete your character out of pure shame and start over as a new character. Yes, we are that mean with these so called beggars, though we have all been there as well. It’s just our way of life.
Now for the moment you’ve been waiting for… The actual ways in which to obtain gold!
Friends:
Yes, everyone wants friends on Gaia; you’re not alone… Gaia meant for people to converse and befriend one another. For your own benefit, I will tell you now that it is not flattering to go up to the Welcome To Gaia Forum and post a thread saying, “hi, wanna be meh friend?!? Add meh k-thx-bi!!!” No, no, and no again. Your Gaian reputation will sink down to the lowest pit of hell if you go and do that. You will be flamed and immediately recognized as a newbie and maybe even be called a n00b. So for God sakes don’t do it! To make “real” friends, talk with people and socialize. Sooner or later someone will ask to add you to their friends list. Or maybe you’re the brave one and call the shot after a while. What you shouldn’t do is see someone you think is cool and send them a random friend request. It’s annoying and can get rather creepy at times.
To make a friend request to someone, you can either go to friend search page and type in the name of the someone you want to befriend, or simply go to that someone’s profile page and click the “request to be friends” icon. Both will automatically send the request. Do not request mutable times. When that person comes online again, he or she will either accept or decline your request. That information will be shown in a PM?
Guilds:
Guilds are like clubs that any Gaian can create to his or her own disire, though at a costly price of around 15,000 to 20,000 gold. Guilds vary in categories. Some are made for roleplaying alone, some made to support certain things, some are made for simple chatter, and some a combination of more then one thing. People can also set fees for joining. Some guild don’t have a fee and are free to join, while others can ask for around 2000gold to join. Use your own judgment and check things out for yourself.
To find a guild, you can go to your profile page, click “my guilds” and scan all of the guilds of Gaia. Type in a topic that interests you or set the topic from the scroll bar. To join a guild, you must go to that guild and click the “request to join” icon at the upper-right hand coroner. It should be easy to locate. When you click it, a blank message system will pop up. Scan the obligations of the guild and see if they want you to type in anything. If not, you can type anything you want that you think will make them let you into the guild. You can also leave it blank.
Whenever the captain, vice captain, or a crewmember comes on and checks the requests for the day, you will either be accepted or declined to that guild. That information will be shown in a PM, or private message.

Questing:
“Questing” pretty much means striving for a certain something severely wanted. People quest for many things… items, friends, comments in their profile, and even hugs. Mostly anything people earnestly quest for is costly, such as a very expensive item or something very hard to obtain on their own. Questing for a simple, non-expensive item will most likely result in people passing by on helping you out, for they figure if you work hard enough, you’ll get what you want. Donations are what people give you to help you out on your quest. Donations can either be made by trading gold or an item to you. You will see your trade icon light up if you have an active trade with someone.
To get your quest recognized by the public, you can either post your quest in your profile
if you just kind-of want it, your signature if you really badly want it, or possibly make
thread dedicated to your questings, which means you want is so badly you’d give your
life . [Example Here For Questing Threads]. Depending on the detail and hard work you put into you’re questing thread will drastically determine your donation rate. Putting your quest down somewhere
noticeable on your behalf will also result in people seeing you take your quest seriously. Sadly, a small part in the Gaian world will only donate to those who have made a thousand posts or more or have been on for a very long time ( at least a few months). This makes people believe that you are not a “mule account” or a newbie that just says they’re questing something to get more gold.
