have you ever visited a Featured avatars profile and a username/password thingy pops up saying there was an error?
Well those are called phishers, they are used to steal other peoples account Never put your information in them.
Instead of playing the "who posted it?" game, just follow the instructions below to figure it out.
Now I found out that Almost all (Haven't found one that doesn't yet.) of thoes messages say the error came from a url in the message. so I found a simple way to track them down all you do is...
1. copy the url
2. open up the profiles source
3. search for the url
4. then you will find a users comment with the url in it as a image
5. report the user for trying to steal information
6. tell the owner of the profile so he/she could delete it from there comments
I hope this helps people with this problem.
Ok to help understand this more I'm going to make pictures that show what to do...
When this pops up
it says that gaiaonlninesecure.t35 is requesting your username/password, that is the url you copy,
Next you Cancel the pop up...
and do as I show in the next image...
then this will pop up...
then you press ctrl + f and search for the url and you will find this...
you will find in this example that choli11 posted the image, because that is the username shown above the postcontent section...
Then you follow steps 5, and 6 at the top of the page =)
Often the url used is gaiaonline and you will find that they usually have a .t35 in the url too by searching for those you are more likely to find the user who posted the username/password pop up
Now Some Hackers are using a popup that won't allow you to copy the text.
Well you can still find out who posted it all you have to do is take out notepad and type down the url.
Example in this pop up...
Now since you can't copy it be very careful now for this example you could search t35 and find it easy but if you look at the begining the Url is spelled
ga l(L not an i) a on il(supposed to be li) ne.t35.com
that :80 is useless.
*REMEMBER NOT ALL THE URL'S USED TO MAKE THE POP UP TO COME UP ARE THE SAME!!!*
Be aware, there are other types of phishing as well please watch this video which explains how people steal other people's usernames and passwords.
