Hello there! I've had a lot of people ask me how I make banners for my shops, threads, and guilds, well, I'm here to show you how.. I did have a thread identical to this before, but I left that account. The title it says how to make guild banners, but it honestly doesn't matter what you use it for, I just used a guild to make the tutorial. I did NOT draw the picture, or make the template, I do not know who did either, I just put it together. I had a mod falsely accuse me of stealing before. I am not claiming the image is one I drew, so please stop accusing me of art theft! I'm tired of people accusing me of doing so! There are many people using other people's images who are not claiming it as their own, go yell at them instead. I am not doing anything against the rules, so there is no reason for you to yell at me. If you do, I will delete your post, and if you PM me, I will block you.
I HAVE LEFT GAIA, PLEASE STOP PMING ME, I WILL NOT BE ANSWERING.
Q: How do you make the template?
A: I personally didn't make the template, I found mine online, just do a google search, you're bound to find some. But if you wanted to make one on your own, you could easily make one up in photoshop or paint. I'll upload some to the thread soon.
Q: What program do you use?
A: I use Photoshop CS. You can use any art program, including MS paint.
Q: Your graphics are so good, any advice on how I can improve?
A: Practice, practice practice! I've been playing around in photoshop for about 4 years now. I did this last year, my skills have improved since then. Just keep practicing, and you'll get better.
Q: I don't have photoshop, but I want it, how can I get it?
A: Well, you can either pay a over $100 for your own copy, or you can download a sample from their website.
Q: How do you make the code show?
A: There is a "code" option up at the top of the message box, put code and /code at the beginning of the code, but in
Q: My banner didn't show up! What did I do wrong?
A: Make sure you did everything right, and you chose the right URL for the image. And make sure you added the [ / i m g ][ / u r l ] at the end (without spaces). Check to make sure you uploaded the picture to the right place as well. If that still doesn't work, PM me the code in the first PM. I have many people who say it isn't working, and that's all. I need to see your code in order to point out to you what you did wrong. I can't help you if I don't know what the exact problem is ;D
Q: Why are you bumping? You're not allowed to bump unless you've fallen off the first page! Read the rules you Noob!
A: This one upsets me, I read the rules of every forum I post in. I ONLY bump unless I've fallen off the first page. Look at the time stamps, and stop accusing me of breaking the rules stare
Q: That picture isn't yours!! Imma report juu!!
A: I have explained in my first post that the PICTURE is not mine, but the graphics for the banner is. I am not claiming the Tsubasa image is mine, please stop accusing me of art theft. Look at your profile, signature, or anything else you post, did you post an image that you didn't draw? Without the owner's consent? Well there you go! You're no better than I am. I have not done anything wrong. Anyone who DOES post about it, WILL be reported for harrassment.
If you have any questions at all, post here, or PM me. If you post, it might be a while before I reply, PM is faster smile But please make sure to mention the thread, or I'll have no idea what you're talking about.
1) Open up a art program. Like Windows Paint, or Jasc Pain Shop Pro, or Photoshop. Any will do. Find a picture and resize it to the perfect size like so:
2) Choose the text tool, and write something. Like "GOG", or "Girls Only Guild", or "A Guild for Only Girls". Doesn't matter. Just put something related to the guild. Also put your avi name on there if you want credit for making it:
3) Time to teach you a little something about CSS. Do you know what a URL is? Well, it's the little address, in the address bar at the top of the page.
That's the URL for the front page of the guild. Now it's time to do something with it. In order to direct the image where you want it to go you have to do this.
After the equal sign, you would place the URL for the guild front page like:
In order to end it, you have to add another bracket. Like I did above. Now it's time to show you how to add the picture.
That's how you start a picture code. Now you may be wondering how you host a picture onto the internet. Well I know a few sites. Like PhotoBucket and ImageShack. For imageshack, use the very bottom code, the "Direct Link". For PhotoBucket, use the one that looks just like an internet address. I suggest not using PhotoBucket though, because if the file is to big, it will shrink it. now to show you what to do with the URL for the image.
Make sure to end the code with the /img or else it'll continue on, and you'll just get that nasty red x. Now to add two and two together.
Make sure to add the /url , or everything after it, will end up as a link. And this is what you should get:
Here is a list of the basic rules and etiquitte which we expect all (newbies, oldbies, and regulars alike) of our users to abide by. Please keep these in mind when posting.
REMEMBER: You also still have to follow all general rules of Gaia that are stipulated by the Terms of Service, Rules & Guidelines, etc.
Gaia Guides & Resources is one of the slowest moving forums in Gaia. A thread may be bumped only when it is no longer on the first page of forum listings.
If a post does not contain any on-topic discussion, it will be considered spam. If you must post something off-topic, it must be done as an addition to something legitimately on-topic (ie. "This tutorial could use some _____. And by the way, your avatar is great." wink . Posting to thank someone for creating the thread is allowed (however, repeatedly posting thanks will be considered spam).
Do not give out inaccuate information. Doing so may result in the thread being removed from Gaia Guides and Resources. If you are not sure about something, then let someone else make the thread about that subject.
Repeat threads are allowed. It is difficult for any thread to be completely comprehensive and there are generally alternative ways to explain most things. However, prior to making a thread, please at least browse through the first page of the forum listing and try to make sure that your thread will cover something new. If a subject already has many threads about it, a new thread could be moved if it does not add anything further than what was contained in older threads.
