Why Firefox? Because it's not IE. IE is unstable, not secure, slow, not easily extensible, does not comply to the W3C standards, etc. Have a look at http://www.killbillsbrowser.com/ or http://switch2firefox.com/ for more info.
Shamelessly formatted by GaiArch.

    • Renamed mis-labeled "Don't apply post style (Say, Whisper, Ornate, etc.) if I changed it manually" checkbox to "Don't apply post style if I changed it manually to something else than Say", because if one changed the post style to anything else than Say, then came back to Say, the formatting engine would still change the post style by itself. How GaiArch is "versionned"

GaiArch's version number has 4 numbers looking like :
1.2.3.4.
What do they mean ?
  • The last (fourth) digit, when it increases by one, means a very slight fix. This could be a typo somewhere, or a broken link in the menu. GaiArch can still work fine without this update. The number is increased by one, no matter the number of little fixes that were made.
  • The third digit, when it increases by one, represents a bug fix. GaiArch may be clunky without such an update, but you might as well not see any difference. It is recommended to download the update, though. Do note that when this number increases, if there were small fixes (that'd normally increase the fourth digit) in the same update, the fourth digit is not incremented, only the third one is. The third digit is always incremented by one no matter the number of bug fixes that were made.
  • The second digit, when incremented, means that a new feature has been added. This could translate into a new layout change. Please note that if there was a small fix (that'd increase the fourth digit) or a bug fix (that'd increase the third number) in the same update, only the second one is incremented. That's why you should still download the update - There might have been a bug fix in the same package. The second number is always increased by one no matter the number of features added.
  • The first number is the main version. It was 0 when GaiArch was still in development. When this number increases, it means that a drastic change has been made to GaiArch, such as the addition of a new tab in the preferences, a new major feature, or a major code overhaul, or more than one of these elements. When there were small features added (that'd increase the second number), bug fixes (that'd increase the third number), or small changes (that'd increase the fourth number), only the first one is incremented. If more than one drastic change happens to GaiArch (which won't happen quite often...), the first number is only increased by one.
  • Occasionally, the .beta suffix may appear to indicate that this version has not been completely tested, but is deemed stable enough for public release.

Did that make things clearer? Other software or extensions do not use the same versionning method, but I use this one. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Deal with it.

Attention peoples!
[And less-techies as well! I've put "aids" in square brackets like so just for you. Cause this isn't for nerds only. Srsly.]
Act like you totally didn't see it coming:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
GaiArch is going open-source.
And about damn time...
It already was, but now it's publicly so. There is now a Subversion repository [basically, a storage space for code with neat other features] at the following address:
http://svn.gaiarch.gaiatools.com/
Hey devs, bookmark this sh*t.
It is public to checkout [download/make a copy] but obviously not to commit [edit/make code changes]. That means that everyone can now build their own version of GaiArch easily [so that you won't have to wait for updates], and that developers that want to contribute to GaiArch with patches [small code fixes] are free to send them to WindPowa. If they work and do fix things, they will be merged [added to the code] and released in the next version of GaiArch (and if you guys can't wait, you can go ahead and build GaiArch when you want to, as previously said). Sweet contributors get sweet commit privileges [and may change and release GaiArch as they want].
Reserved, misc stuff here. (Donations/Contributors/Cool people/Affiliates/Whatever.)
