Main Plot Summary
One Halloween night, the rich billionaire Johnny K. Gambino invited the entire population of Gaia to his mansion for a Halloween bash. Unknown to everyone at the time, Gambino had constructed a laboratory underneath his mansion and was experimenting on a gaining true immortality. That night, something went wrong with an experiment that became known as the G-Virus, which turned innocent lab rabbits into the blood thirsty Grunnies and would spread throughout Gaia turning anyone they bit into zombies. The situation grew beyond their control, and Gambino’s secret lab of G-CORP was forced out of hiding in an attempt to kill the project. They ultimately had to resort to setting off a contained explosion that would destroy as much of the project as possible, and subsequently the majority of the LabTechs who were all infected. Among those who escaped alive were Johnny Gambino himself and the mysterious Labtech X who was supplying the cure to zombie state.
In the aftermath of the G-Virus outbreak, Johnny learned that his only son Gino may have died in the explosion. Temporarily homeless and heartbroken, he stumbled across an image that showed Gino being thrown out of the mansion as it exploded. Gambino spent most of that year’s Christmas traveling between his home of Gambino Island to Barton and Durem in search of Gino. His search was almost a failure, but as he was about to commit suicide over the loss of his son, Gino suddenly appeared before him. But he wasn’t the same. Gino did not remember who he was or even who his father is.
Taking advantage of the situation, Gambino’s long-time rivals The Von Helsons of Durem decided to host the next big party in Gaia for the entire population. During this event, it was revealed that the Von Helson Twins were the ones responsible for brainwashing Gino in an attempt to overthrow Gambino’s financial legacy and social reign. Afterwards, Gambino began constructing on his new mansion back on Gambino Island.
But something was off as the mansion slowly became a massive tower that could be seen for miles. Gambino had clearly lost it since the Von Helsons were able to take away his heir. In that insanity, he injected himself with the G-Virus in the hope that the properties in it would produce the perfect heir. Luckily, at the height of his insanity, Gino’s memory came back. But timing wouldn’t be on his side, because the moment it came back, Gambino had been shot by a sniper positioned from Durem’s clocktower.
Upon his assassination, Gambino fell into the ocean. Gino jumped in after his father, and the two of them fused together due to the G-Virus. In a symbolic twist of fate, Gambino’s massive tower also fell… on top of the Von Helson Mansion in Durem due to its height. The event was thought to have killed both households in a single blow, leaving Gaia without a dominating family of wealth.
Some time later, Gino was found washed ashore on a beach along Gambino Island by local shopkeeper Sasha and Barton shop owner Ian. News spread throughout Gaia that a Gambino had survived, and Sasha took it upon herself to take care of him to full recovery. Ian, who has had strong feelings of attraction towards Sasha, saw this as a sign of Gino winning her love and affection, which manifested in visible jealousy. Upon his full recovery, Gino did everything within his power to impress and win over Sasha’s affection, including adopting the alter-ego of The Masque and performing heroic deeds, specifically saving her from the crossfire that would have resulted from a holiday rivalry between Jack the spirit of Halloween and a Santa Mech. Ian’s jealousy grew vengeful at this point, and when Gino was able to secure a kiss from Sasha on New Years Eve, Ian was arrested and charged with the arson of Gambino Mansion. Why? His change in behavior made him suspect number one in the eyes of the law.
The trial resulted in Ian being declared innocent and falsely accused. However, the sniper who shot Gambino was waiting in the shadows and took his shot against Ian as he was coming out of the courthouse in Durem. This resulted in a mirroring series of events where Sasha would visit Ian as he recovered while Gino got visible jealous of the attention she was giving Ian. Gino’s rage was so intense that he promptly challenged Ian to a death match on top of the cliffs along Gold Beach. It was a one-sided battle as Ian refused to fight Gino and willingly sacrificed himself as a sign of his love for Sasha.
Suddenly, Labtech X appeared with a syringe. He declared that he would finally show the world what Gino really is and injected him with the liquid. The injection resulted in a mutation forcing both Gino and Labtech X off the cliff and into the ocean. The formula was also extremely unstable and caused a nuclear-size explosion! The results of this explosion were as follows: the fusion of Johnny and Gino from long ago had been neutralized and Johnny Gambino was revived as such, Gino returned to the more innocent-yet-cowardly nature had been know for before his brainwashing by the Von Helson, Labtech X was supposedly killed in the blast, and said blast also attracted the attention of traveling aliens known as the Zurgs.
As time passed and several isolated events occurred, the population was wondering what happened to Ian. He was never seen again after the event that happened on the cliffs, and his talking cat Rufus continued to manage the shop. As it turns out, Ian went into hiding on Gambino Island due to a mysterious condition that became harder to suppress. Gambino, with the help of family friend Edmund, has been using G-CORP to find a cure for Ian’s condition. Ian was their only test subject. They were successful in finding a cure and proceeded to mass produce it before it was too late.
Meanwhile, in Durem, Edmund was having a late-night tea when he was shot at by the same sniper that took out Gambino and Ian. His experience with intense situations of combat allowed him to escape unharmed and stealthily make his way to Gambino’s Mansion. It was revealed that all three of them have become targets and that they all knew who was trying to kill them.
The Von Helsons. Vladimir and his heir Louie had taken it upon themselves to reestablish the Von Helson legacy upon learning of the events that have happened against their family. Specifically the kidnapping and hiding of Vlad’s second heir to his legacy, his son Damian. And the twins? They survived the destruction of Von Helson Mansion thanks to one simple little family trait: they’re vampires. Vlad hired Zhivago, a vampire gun-for-hire, to kill Gambino in revenge as well as anyone else Vlad didn’t favor. It was Zhivago who originally shot Gambino, shot Ian, and attempted to assassinate Edmund. Since that failed, Vlad decided to strike Gambino where it hurt him the most and kidnapped Gino. The plan was to hold Gino for ransom in exchange for Damian. However, Gino was completely out of the loop as to what was going on between the two families. In an effort to psychologically break him, Zhivago revealed the truth about the long-standing family feud. (

Louie took it upon himself to find his brother through his own methods, but ended up stumbling upon and falling in love with Moira in the process. (
NOTE: This portion of the plot was done through CGI animation. link) Though he was successful in his personal mission to find his brother Ian, his relationship with Moira was frowned upon by his father, who saw it as a sign of weakness and ordered Zhivago to have Louie killed. Vlad also learned of Gambino and G-CORPS current endeavor to produce a cure for vampirism via Zhivago’s spying and tracking of Ian. He saw this at an act of genocide and a great battle began to brew.
At the climax of this conflict at the Von Helson Manor located outside of Durem, Louie confronted Vlad and demanded that he step down as leader of the family. Naturally, Vlad refused and a battle between the two ensued. Unknown to either party, two snipers were waiting for their shots in the shadows. One of them was Zhivago. The other was Edmund. In the end, Vlad was ultimately killed when Zhivago missed his intended target shortly after Edmund successfully shot and injected the cure into him.
With Louie taking the mantle of leader of the vampires and the choice of becoming human now a choice rather than a mandate, the balance of power seem to have quieted down for quite some time. During this time of peace, several different races came out of hiding. Merfolk, centaurs, orcs, even a race of dark elves. Even a few demigods came down to mingle with the mortals of Gaia. One could almost say that it was a time of peace.
But not for Gambino. He became distraught by the fact that he hasn’t seen or heard from Gino in some time and began to worry. Edmund assured him one night at his Durem estate that Gino is capable of taking care of himself and is safe. In actuality, Gino was embarrassed to show his face around Gaia due to a former demigod possessing his body and parading him around the world naked and is in hiding out of shame. (

Upon his return home to his home, Gambino was shot and killed by Zhivago who was wielding a magic glove given to him by his new employer. Edmund learned of his assassination and attempted to find Gino, fearing his young life may be in danger as well. Gino was indeed caught, but only at the hands of the Overseer and Sentinel, two former demigods who were lucky enough to secure themselves an airship. Gino also successfully hijacked the ship for a soul-searching adventure through passive means, joining Overseer and Sentinel’s own personal quest to become demigods again.
Meanwhile, Zhivago has been questioning his current assignment by his new employer and decided to opt out of it in person. His new employer is the leader of the dark elves Don Kuro, who has a vendetta against the Gambinos that makes the one the Von Helsons had look like a hill-billy squab fight. Don Kuro was displeased with Zhivago wanting to pass on his current assignment to kill Gino after he successfully killed Gambino with no remorse. Don Kuro then displays the true nature of the glove he gave Zhivago for his assignments, which has a remotely controlled shocking feature to force the wearer into submission.
Also meanwhile, Edmund’s search for Gino ended up being sidetracked when one of Gaia’s gods was attacked. With the help of the magician Brennivn and several thousands of Gaia’s population, Edmund was able to save the giant jellyfish-like God of Spoilage from death, much to his shock and embarrassment.
Some time later, Gino and his party discovered another person on their airship. It was the ship’s mechanic that Brennivn forgot to mention about, who introduced himself by the nickname of “Ladyhands.” He had been working on the ship since Brennivn handed it over to the former demigods the previous Christmas. Ladyhands joined the crew as they made their way to their fist stop, a forest demigod called Peath. Upon finding the giant pill bug god, everyone learned of a plot to bring harm against the Gaian pantheon of gods by the vampire race.
In an effort to help defend the remaining members of the pantheon, Sentinel and Overseer decided to seek out a higher-ranking god in a hope that their actions may win them a favor to restore their demigod status. Upon landing in the mythical slum of Dref Dur, Sentinel and Overseer learned of Gambino’s death and decided to tell Gino of their discovery. Gino, eager for adventure, ventured into Dref Dur and got lost. He shortly encountered a gang and was rescued by an individual calling him “Billy.” He clearly knew who Gino really was and knew that he shouldn’t be out and about in Derf Dur. The stranger introduced himself a Meili, the god that Sentinel and Overseer were looking for. Meili took it upon himself to escort Gino safely out of Dref Dur, but was stuck at an impasse due to the sudden appearance of Nicolae admiring a local’s gold knife. While he claims to just be admiring the scenery of the city, Nicolae is actually there as part of Don Kuro’s back up assassination team against Gino, lead by Crecento.
Meanwhile, Zhivago learned of Gino’s location from his employer and gave chase as well. Brennivn and Edmund also learned of Gino’s location when Brennivn received a docking bill from the ship he loaned Sentinel and Overseer. Luckily, Edmund was able to arrive at Dref Dur first.
Back at the airship, Overseer and Sentinel discover that Gino has gone missing. As they were leaving to search for Gino, Ladyhands warns them that Derf Dur has been overrun by vampires! While debating on if rescuing Gino would be worth the trouble, Edmund boarded their ship and forcefully recruited the trio for his rescue attempt.
As Meili escorted Gino to his apartment, Gino delivered the messages that Sentinel and Overseer were originally questing to deliver. The news that the two former demi-gods wanting Meili to restore their powers sent him into a rant where he partially revealed to Gino that Jack, the Gaia Spirit of Halloween, was just a messenger from a higher being sent to strip Sentinel and Overseer of their powers. Meili also partially revealed why everyone has been trying to kill the Gambinos, but was interrupted by Zhivago who was waiting for his shot from within the shadows of Meili’s large appartment. A battle over Gino ensued between Zhivago and Meili that resulted in the powerful God being killed by the mystical glove attached to the vampire assassin.
Edmund was able to rescue Gino and fend off Zhivago before he took his shot at Gino’s life. Gino, then, promptly fainted at the sight of Meili’s lifeless body as Edmund called for Sentinel and Overseer to pick them up from the top of the apartment building.
During the flight back home, Gino began to suffer from a fever dream. In it, he saw his father and a family of Gambino clones welcoming him home. While having dinner (in his dream), the image of his late father began to reinforce the old concern that Gino may not be as strong of an heir to the Gambino name as he had hoped.
After waking up from the nightmare, Edmund was about to update Gino on Zhivago’s murder of his father. But Gino revealed that he knew about the murder, but he didn’t know how he knew. Eventually, Gino realized that this time, his father wouldn’t be coming back, and it was time for him to grow up. At first, Edmund protested, but he eventually let Gino settle the conflict how he wanted to.
With no place to go, Overseer and Sentinel decided to take the ship and crew to vist Hephaes, a powerful god who actually meets with Gaia to determine the balance of nature. However, when they approached the mechanized deity, they were attacked! Hephaes did so thinking that Sentinel and Overseer were imposters sent to kill him. Edmund attempted to abandon the ship with Gino during the attack, but Hephaes recognized Gino and announced his uncompromising devotion to the Gambino bloodline. Using this to their advantage, Overseer and Sentinel asked (through Gino) to meet with Gaia personally. Hephaes then sent them back to Gambino Island, stating that Gaia will find them there upon their return.
In Durem, Zhivago updated Don Kuro on the assassination of Meili but his failure to kill Gino. Disappointed in the result, Don Kuro ordered the destruction of Edmund’s shop while Louie was running it in Edmund’s absence. A covert spy was sent to the shop, but Louie spotted him just in time to save several innocent Gaians from a package bomb left behind in the store. Some time after the bombing, the Durem PD released a police sketch of the suspect and asked the Gaia Community for any tips that lead to an arrest. After a few days, the police arrested Faris, a dark elf working for Don Kuro who was hiding in plain sight as a Gaia user.Unfortunately, Farris was killed while in custody and his body dragged off by an unknown associate.
One night on the way back to Gambino Island, Nicolae and Crecento snuck on to the ship and held Gino at gunpoint. Microseconds before Crecento pulled the trigger, Nicolae threw off his aim and caused the gun to shoot at the ceiling. Gino took this opportunity to knock out Crecento with a mop bucket. Edmund quickly appeared and made Nicolae surrender by pressing his sword against the traveler’s neck. As Ladyhands tied up Crecento to throw him into a make-shift brig, Edmund discovered a hidden knife on Nicolae. Edmund interrogated both of them to discover that Nicolae took the murder contract for the financial gain, but had no desire to kill Gino. Crecento, on the other hand, had a reason to murder Gino.
Meanwhile, Zhivago organized a private meeting with Cordell, Don Kuro’s sister and right-hand. Deep in the catacombs of Durem, Zhivago explained that while the dark elves have been supplying the vampire race with easy money and easy blood to drink, they were starting to lose loyality to the Don’s cause. The bombing in Durem occurred with Louie still in the store, which rubbed the vampire race the wrong way. Zhivago vowed to kill Gino in order to get out of his contract with Don Kuro, but as soon as that happened, he would turn on the dark elves. Don Kuro regained his strength and vowed to take back that which they lost due to their mother’s affair.
During the month of Halloween, a vampire named Ambrosia visited Louie and asked for him for help against the Dark Elves since the humans trust him. Louie explained that he had to earn that trust but sent some “friends” to help the cause.
Meanwhile, Don Kuro made Franco his new Luetenant after revealing that he knew about Cordell’s secret meeting with Zhivago. Sensing her doubt in his leadership, Luca/Don Kuro revealed that his plan was to revive an exiled god called Nyx. The only thing preventing Nyx’s return, and eventual merger with Luca’s body, was the fact that Gino was still alive.
Some time later, a group of vampires attacked the Dark Elf hideout and failed to do any real impact. While Gaia 9 News was reporting on the event, it was suddenly reported that Gino Gambino was killed while traveling around the world with the Oversear and Sentinel. However, Cordell and Franco were not convinced that the news was true.
Luca, having become very weak, instigated the merger with Nyx through a gambit that would stall the final act until it is confirmed that Gino is dead. If the merger were to fail, the event would still play into Nyx’s favor due to several celestial signs announcing his return to Gaia. One of these signs was the shadow of the moon cracking like a ceramic plate, as witnessed by the Oversear and Sentinel. This event also caused the two former demi-Gods to expedite their quest to restore their powers.
As news propagated of Gino's "death," Edmund supplied staged photos of Gino's corpse to be delivered to the Dark Elves by Crecento as solid proof that the rumors were true. In order to make it more believable, a blood-stain shirt was given with the photo as well. Luca had his doubts on the legitimacy of the proof but accepted them as a sign he should start the ritual. The gambit was imperfect, resulting in Nyx and Luca fusing into the same body, which worked out well for Nyx's ultimate goal.
The airship weighed anchor within viewing range of Gambino island, where a meeting between Oversear, Sentinel, Gino, and the goddess Gaia took place. The three were transported to another dimension, to Gaia's domain. Upon revealing herself to the party, Gaia confirmed that Oversear and Sentinel were to remain mortal and no longer possess their demi-God status or powers. This angered Sentinel, who was immediately banished from Gaia's presence. Oversear was more accepting of Gaia's decision and was rewarded with the mortal name of Marius. Gaia then turned her attention to Gino and explained why he's been the center of attention and why so many have been trying to kill the Gambino bloodline. (
See Backstory & History section - Gaia's Children) Fearing Nyx's rage, Gaia charges Gino with saving the world...
Gino's bloodline powers would grow as long as the spirit of humanity continued to resist Nyx's ambition. This was proven in the past when Johnny Gambino would reshape the world based on the strength of humanity's will, for better or for worse. Concerned that he was not up to the same level as his father, Gino asked Gaia to just strip the powers of Nyx like she did with Sentinel and Marius/Oversear. She explained that she is unable to do that since Nyx is one of her own children and their powers manifest within themselves; they are not something held by their owners. Gaia then left Gino with a letter from his father.
Shortly after returning to the mortal world, Gino collapsed. The power of Nyx's return overwhelming him as he reported to the rest of his friends that Luca's body had been possessed by Nyx. When questioned how he knew, Marius explained that Gino is the last decedent of the Titan of Ambition. This angered Sentinel, who assumed that Gino was granted all the powers of a God undeservingly. Gino quickly calmed her down by explaining how he's still the same scared little boy he was when he started his journey with no clue what he's doing. With the party united, they set course towards Nyx.
Meanwhile, Cresento's attempt to leave The Don Kuro Hideout failed as Nyx came aboard and confronted him about lying about Gino's death. Nyx blackmailed Cresento into using his ship to change the world. The two were suddenly rammed by Gino's ship and a conflict ensued. Gino's ship ultimately crashed; the victory going to Nyx this time.
As the crew were recovering, Gino thought he lost his father's last letter in the crash. Upon having it returned by Nicolae, Gino decided to open it. To everyone's shock, Johnny Gambino's last words to his son was a joke claiming he was adopted. This prompted Gino to laugh to the point of tears, not because he found it funny, but because he found it utterly stupid. This letter awoke the sleeping power of the Titan in Gino, and he set out to face Nyx a second time.
Nyx had moved on to Durem and began to create what he was destine to be: Death and Distruction. By the time Gino and his party reached the city, the majority of the downtown area was smoking and in ruins. Louie and his loyal vampires tried to defend the city, but they were unsuccessful. As Ian suggested that his brother retreat, Gino showed up and punched Nyx in the face... much to everyone's surprise. A fist-to-fist battle between the God of Dead and the Titan of Ambition began.
Once in the safety of Edmund's store, Marius/Oversear brought everyone up to speed as to Gino's bloodline and his new-found powers. Sentinel added that during The Old Age, the titans and gods grew stronger in direct proportion to the numbers and frequency of Humans worshiping them. The goal is clear: Get the citizens of the world to support Gino.
In the woods outside of Durem, Cordell found the lifeless body of Fish thrown into the woods. Recognizing it as Nyx's handiwork, Cordell and the rest of the Dark Elves defected from their leader and joined the Vampires in an effort to defeat Nyx.
Louie and Edmund brought Cordell close enough to witness the melee battle between Gino & Nyx. Against her better judgement, Cordell ran onto the battlefield in order to reason with her one-time brother, but Nyx revealed that any trace of Luca has been removed from the body he currently possess. Nyx then struck down Cordell with an attack from above, but it was blocked by Brennivn at the last moment. The distraction was enough to give Gino the upper hand in the fight. Cordell then assisted the exhausted wizard to the sidelines in order to help him recover from the attack.
Meanwhile, Edmund slipped away from the crowd and headed to the main church in Durem. As he climbed the stairs, he encountered Zhivago...
