I've finally got some info on the Party Ball. It NEVER displays hearts or squiggles, but it does have preferences, and as it turns out it's rather difficult to please. I'm not completely sure of these results. I found them by changing a setting, monitoring happiness for 3 days, changing it again, etc. A very long and tedious process to be sure.

Light: Black
Music: Seashell Shock
Temp: Moderate

With 3 preferences met it's happiness increases by 8, with 2 met it doesn't change (zero), with 1 met it drops by 2, and with zero preferences met it drops by 4. Basically, it's going to be an unhappy fish in most tanks. The Party Ball is, in essence, another emo fish.

Lifespan: 4 weeks (28 days)

Booty grab is unknown. I've yet to see it trigger. That doesn't mean it never does, but it doesn't trigger often that's for sure.

Apparently the Cuttlefish is now using these preference increases/decreases as well. +8 with 3 pref, 0 with 2 pref, -2 with 1 pref, and -4 with 0 pref. That's a change from before, when it was a more normal +16, +8, 0, -2. I'd like to check it's preferences again to make sure I'm not being fooled by something, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

And...dang. D: If the Cuttle is emo, the Party Ball is just outright sociopathic.

Doing this testing, I've got all kinds of things in Barrett's tank that are incompatible with my tank as it stands. xd I hope that when I eventually phase these things out, I can set up a different tank type and finally use them all.

Sadly, we have precious little info about how full tanks or 100% happiness effects booty grab. We do know how it effects thread invites however. Non-full tanks are much less likely to be invited, but people don't pay much attention to the tanks happiness level since it's not as readily apparent.

Also, be aware, that despite the new red gold, Dolphins are not the most lucrative booty grab fish. At 200/game (actual drop rate - cap is deceivingly high) they are slightly below the Gwees and Momos, farther below Watermeats, and even farther below some of the mini-monsters. They are above the mermaids however, who've been nerfed to death at this point. They will generate thread invites however, since they are perceived as being very lucrative fish right now. Also, most of the new booty grab fish are triggering much more often than Watermeats do, which boosts their profitability substantially.

I wish we had some real data about how tank happiness effects booty grab. Common thinking claims it increases triggering frequency, and there are some indications that may indeed be true. Remember though, tank happiness is calculated from the majority of your fish having happiness levels increasing (and a few other, less significant factors like decorations), so a few unhappy fish won't necessarily decrease the happiness of your tank. Many profitable booty grab tanks had somewhat unhappy Lilas in the old days of profitable mermaids due to their preference for darkness.
