did you ever update the guide to include the new fish?
like the blue and red starfish, piranha, monsters ect? i find your guide to be more comprehensible.

We're working on it. Check one page back for updated fish. The doctor hasn't gotten around to posting them on this page yet.

i have a 20 day old gold fish right now. i was wondering if that was normal. the other two i had died right at 14 days. the only thing i did different with this one was to put it in Bartlett's tank for around 4 days. i know your guide said that didn't matter so i was wondering if i might be looking at a glitch.
thank you for taking the time to do all that research!

Something has changed with fish lifespans since they modified Barrett's tank, but I'm not sure what. I've got a goldfish that's lived 34 days at this point, and it too spent some time (about 2 weeks) in Barrett's tank. I guess Gaia fish respond well to cryogenic suspension. (lol)

I suspect there's a code bug of some sort involved. It could be intentional - they could have made their lifespans more random. (I also had a dolphin that died 4 weeks early after living a life with 3 preferences met. It never spending time in Barrett's tank.) I've no idea why they would do that however. Normally, people don't write code without a reason, and what reason could there be for this change?

have you heard of that new thing glow time finder if you replace the number in the in the box with your own aquarium number it will show you all the stats of your tank including when your fish would die. i decided to do an experiment in which i removed all of my fish except for the alpha gramster and put them into Bartlett's tank. then i put them all back in my aquarium. now all the "expiration dates" are due after 2010 EXCEPT for the gramster which is still scheduled to die november 1st.
hope that helps! it's certainly interesting biggrin

I just found that link myself - and checked on my long lived goldfish. It's scheduled to die in June of 2010, so I think we definitely have a coding error on our hands. Somehow, putting fish in Barrett's tank can screw up their lifespans sometimes. Very interesting.

That page also displays gold caps for fish that will glow next time, which is another interesting piece of information about our fish. biggrin

Oooh, awesome link! Thank you for sharing. :3

I've got to get back to work, but I'll have to give my tank a run through when I get home. I'm curious to see when all my Minis are set to expire. xd

i have had my dark knight fish for ten days
and although i have it set on moderate and natural light with o'lighthouse, the fish will not rise above 3000 out of 30000 i'm about to give him to Bartlett and be done with it, he's almost as bad as a cuttle.

That's curious. Supposedly, with two out of three preferences met (Dark Knights don't like natural light) they should be increasing by 16. I should re-test them. I know they like moderate temps (had some - with 3 prefs met they increased by 32), so maybe they don't like O'Lighthouse anymore. Or maybe they're just being weird. Do they show hearts when you feed them?

As for the death dates in the glow finder, they may not be reliable. That goldfish of mine got another month added to it's lifespan today - it's now saying late July, 2010. Figuring this out is going to require some tracking & testing I think. Most of my fish are scheduled to die as expected, but the tank with the immortal goldfish is varying quite dramatically from what's expected. Most of the fish have had an extra 4 weeks or so added to their lives, and they only spent an hour or so in Barrett's tank. Meanwhile, the Party Ball, which spent 12 days in there, got it's lifespan extended by 12 days as expected. Something very strange is going on.

Is it just me or has Novocain's outfit changed?
I was looking up the Octopii's settings, and I noticed something different about his avi in my periferalsp? vision, so I looked at it, and I'm pretty sure that it's not the same as before...........Does this mean he might be back soon? (rhetorical question, I know you don't know)

Edit: If this happened a while ago, I don't think anyone has mentioned it.

Holy cowfish, I think you're right. :O

He definitely looks quite different. I don't look at the first page all that often these days, so I couldn't say how long it's been like that, but that definitely is not how I remember it. That would certainly be good news if he's back. :3

Indeed it would. He's been sorely missed. biggrin

He must be back. He's wearing the Koi - and if memory serves that item came out last summer. Wonder why he hasn't posted in this thread?
