♥ Avoid Getting Hacked! ♥ IMPORTANT UPDATE 12/31

i was hacked and phishing like two days ago, and i have an idea how can this happened. The day that i was hacked, meanwhile i was chatting with my friends, "my gaia" give me a little window (like this: http://www.databaseanswers.org/iron_speed_problems/images/10_problem_with_connecting_to_localhost.jpg but says gaia and looked pretty normal) that told me that my account session's time was out, and need my username and my password, but I swear that looked credible.
I never got a PM or something like that, and i never told any person my password, so... I dont know, if you look something like that never give your username and password!! only close it

do you remember where you were on gaia when it happened?

unfortunately some less than lovely users will put that crap in their signatures or it will be attached to an advertisement. either way it needs to be reported. next time you see it don't just close it, take a screen cap.

i read some post in this thread recently and yesturday i got a not saying i would be banned if i didnt give them my password and email. thanks to this sight i didnt get hacked and i knew to report the pm i got. thank you very much for taking the time to make this thread.

i was in gaia aquarium, i take this screenshoot today (sorry about the english-spanish of the screenshot, "usuario is username" and "contraseña is password" wink , and I reported it, but i didn't get an answer yet

most of the time you won't get a response when you report things, but don't worry as it doesn't mean they aren't going to deal with it.

fake login prompts are usually dealt with quickly.

If a user puts it in their signature, it usually shows up as a picture with a broken link. This popped up in a signature of someone who posted in the Xmas event FAQ. I reported it and the signature was cleared in an hour or two.

Getting a pop up from the main forums asking for username and password verification from this site: http://gaiabotdetection.collectphp.com

I think this is a phishing scam. I closed all pop-ups immediately

not necessarily... if you take the time to carefully report it there's a good chance you'll get some stuff back.

Its pretty obvious~

I've learned my lesson back in August of 09'
I was scammed in my own thread. I had 150k gold, and when I logged back in, I had 1k left.
I was really pissed.
