It's been almost a year since I've been here but I got another problem. (Yush, you guys are still on my Subs <333) Anyway, about a couple of minutes ago, these two guys in MTV starts saying, "Hey, do you want me to clone your cloud, Enchanted Book, and Demonic Anklets for you?" At first, I was interested. But then, the more I think about it, it seemed like a scam. He said that Admin was his real sister and I was like "I thought that cute little white head was a systemic machine." He kept pleading me to send him the items, which made me doubt more. So after 5 minutes of pleases, I told him to remind me tomorrow because I'm too lazy today. What should I do, ole great Gaian who created this awesome thread? <3

report him for scamming. even if he could clone you'd both get banned for breaking the ToS.

hey i had gotten an email from a moderator in the first account i told you about that got hacked. The mod said that i had been reported and that they had to clear thing up and the process of giving up my email add, username and password was extrememly necessary then it said something about receiving 5k gold if they were wrong about the account and at first i was hesitant but i eventually did it...it had all the info about how to send the password so that the message would not bounce back. I had to put a dash between each character in my password. Well i didn't get the 5k gold as told nor did they ban my account...it is so confusing...
My account only got hacked like a few weeks after...and i'm not sure why or how

i know why you got hacked... that person was not a moderator. gaia mods will never ever ever ever ever ask for that information or PM you like that. but even on the off chance one decided to go crazy and did that you should never give away your personal info. NEVER! seriously, don't even tell your pet (if you have one).

oh...and there is some guy that always pms my bro and asks for information to get him stuff and he told him that he was just helping out all the noobs because that is what he does...he took his information from him 2 days ago and told him that he would get him 100k if he gave him a few days because he had alot of noobs to deal with and my bro is waiting on him now...he told him not to worry because he is an admin and when my bro reminded him that they shouldn't give away information like that to anyone he assured him it was completely safe because they only require passwords in cases where it is a must and also they would not give out his info to anyone so he gave the guy

again, he is a nasty, stinking, cheating, lying, scamming jerk and not an admin. tell your bro to change his password RIGHT NOW, provided he still can... and of course tell him to report that sleazy guy for impersonating staff and scamming.

if the staff "sometimes" needed your password they wouldn't say "never". not only is that retarded, it's highly unprofessional... and it would be a lie. staff accounts have the ability to "check" your account with out logging in as you, there is more to them than a fancy colored username and a tag designating their job.

I don't get what's so hard to understand about the phrases "NEVER give out your password!" and "Mods don't need your information to check into your account!" @o@ Everyone knows it yet day by day people still give it out under fear of getting banned. Even my friend did it! D: WHAT KIND OF PERSON THINKS THAT'S A FUN TREND?

How would we avoid Key-loggers though?

- avoid public/ shared computers when ever possible

- check the outside of the computer for hardware keyloggers (there's a picture in the first post in the definitions)

- be careful what and where you download, always scan downloads for viruses before installing (save the download instead of running it, then right click it and scan it)

- if unsure about a system you can input your password by copying and pasting letters from a webpage

you're most likely to get a keylogger from scammers here on gaia (a script kiddie delivering an "admin message" in the flash games prompting you to download something or a link in a PM for example), gold selling sites and gaia hack sites. porn is also a very popular source of malware, avoid porn sites especially ones that prompt you to download things to watch a video.

if a download prompt ever comes up and you didn't click to download anything don't click on anything! press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the task manager to close your browser. some malware will download no matter where you click, even if it's the X to close or no/ cancel.
