I heart this guide! I hang out in the Q&A forum sometimes and the first page ALWAYS has at least two or three people who need help with a hacked account. This thread should save me some explaining time. xd

Yesterday, I was helping out a girl who lost her account from 2003 because someone hacked into it and aggressively spammed the Q&A with fake advertisements for porn and Gaia cheats (they actually linked to a phishing site). I feel awful for her, especially since she never once mentioned being worried over her lost items - just with getting in touch with her Gaia friends so they'd know what happened. sad

that's all i'd be worried about if someone got my account... but i've got mules in all my guilds at least. the items aren't that important to me, although i do enjoy them.

Wow, this is such a good thread. I'm sure it took you hours! And you did all this using your time to help us gaians? Your such a kind person! Thank-you! Personally i think the mods and admins should come here and check it out! You deserve a reward! And they should look at the gaian's post, to see if anyone did get hacked for real. I think alot of gaians who did get hacked would be coming here...it's soo great! I read everything in your 1-last post of yours, it was awesome! Very helpful. I just dont understand why some of our fellow gaians feel the need to hack people. I'm sure they wouldnt want to be hacked. Our poor innocent gaian members have to deal with this, so un-fair! I've never actually experienced being hacked. But some scammers and hackers have sended me PMs on requesting for my password and information...but of course i never believed them...so i deleted them immedietly..but sadly i never reported them. I just ignored them, and i regret it badly. I feel so bad for these people who are getting hacked and wish to beable to help...but right now im just as poor as any other person who got hacked. If i was rich though i would donate. And some people actually do donate and even now their are members who are very lucky to not get hacked but yet they pretend to get hacked just to get some donations. Thats why i dont donate anymore to people who say they've been hacked. They can just as easily do photoshop and other scams to pretend to be hacked. Even hackers are pretending to get hacked. Well I'm thankful for this post, i hope it doesnt die anytime soon and will grow bigger & bigger....but im also hoping it'll die soon....because if it does die....it probally means gaia has no more problems, because obviously no one is reporting it! Thankies again! <3

If a user is hacked, they are to send in one Report a Hacking form. The staff cannot check every forum and topic for users who have been hacked, and these claims may or may not be false. The report form is the alternative to the need to check all topics and forms, and a way of singling out false claims.

you're welcome... i guess it's taken a few hours of work. i'm constantly updating so i can't say how long i've worked on it total.

I love this thread. Thank you for your hard work. I've been really worried about Gaia lately with all of the bots, scamming, hacking in Towns and recently, Rally. I was there a while back and its super annoying.

The bots won't do you any harm, and neither will the scams if you don't fall for any of them.

As for the hackers in Towns, they won't be able to get access to your account the way they're hacking.

You have little to worry about.
