Not sure if this has been mentioned, but there is another way a certain group of internet peoples (let's just call them "Anonymous", I do not wish to break
the first and second rules) that don't really need much to get your password. When you save your password so that you're logged in every time you jump on the computer, that password is stored in a cache (not sure if this is the correct term, but it
is stored somewhere). Anonymous can use programs to read other people's cache after receiving emails from them or by other means (not sure of these means, I know they are crafty in their ways). Once this happens, they have your passwords to everything you have saved. This is generally the strategy Anonymous uses to attack Myspace users, but the same idea could be applied to Gaia. This means if you save your password,
you are vulnerable to Anonymous. Also, they have found that sending items as gifts to others is much more effective than trades, since (as far as I know) gift giving isn't recorded in a permanent way that the user can view.
In short, just type your password out whenever you get on the comp. It'll help defend your account from the likes of Anonymous.
passwords are stored in cookies, not cache. that method of stealing passwords is called a cookie grabber (i have a link to a journal about it in the links section).
no need to worry about your gift log, mods can check it for you. it's not made available to users because it would ruin the surprise of the anonymous gifts.Cookies, that's it. I knew it started with a "C", but couldn't remember. However, "Anonymous" don't attack Gaian accounts for items. They "do it for the lulz", so they break into accounts and send gifts to random people, hoping it will result in some bans.
So just because they will get caught won't stop them.
