COMMON SIGNS OF BEING HACKED

• were you logged off recently and noticed something gone afterwards?
  
• did you give your password out?
  
• did you enter your password into a "new server", "gold generator" or something like that?
  
• is your username and/ or password suddenly different?
  
• did your avi's gender suddenly change?
  
• are you suddenly missing items? [there is a glitch that does this sometimes]
  
• is your profile different?
  
• are there posts in your posting history that you did not make?

Oh Noes!

IF YOU ANSWERED YES TO ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS...

• change your password if you still can
  
• check your trading history to see if there are any unusual trades
  
• report a hacking

u know that million gold give away is a hack my friend joined and a few minutes after he did they went on his account changed the password and now he can't go on it anymore cuz if u notice when u sign up 4 it they make u write ur username and password and it looks just like the gaia front page but if u look at the link it says gogaiaonline.com or something like that

the REAL million gold give away is not a hack, but there is a PM going around posing as it with a link that leads to a phishing site or cookie grabber.

the give away itself is benign, but you must ALWAYS check links before clicking them. be careful of links in people's signatures too. they could have one of my banners for this thread but have it linked somewhere else- somewhere dangerous. so always check before you click, it's like looking both ways before crossing the street.

I got this PM not that long ago. I followed it and filled out my info and then immediately went and change my password. I have another PM that I think you should put up. I didn't see this up there or the other one but I'm not sure how you do a Print Screen thing. I can Print the Screen but when it comes to putting it in Paint I forget how to do it.

(it's best that you don't post the link). after you put it in paint, go to edit and then chose paste.

anything that asks for your password that is not a part of www.gaiaonline.com is a scam.
