hiya, welcome to all about achievements. i'm a huge fan of them since they give me something to brag about be proud of. i love them so much i thought i'd even make a guide on collecting them. hopefully this humble guide will be of some use to you. :3

04-30-12: added some alchemy achievements.

04-08-12: i managed to collect all the achievements for easter and get the info for them on my own, so everything should be up to date! according to a dev notice, the event is supposed to go on until the 18, so there's still plenty of time to collect them all!

04-06-12: FINALLY, after (technically) four events without, we get easter achievements! i'm working on updating the guide right now! there seems to be a delay on the grants, since i've captured some babies... yet i still haven't been awarded the achievement, so any help if you've been granted any in the higher tiers would be much appreciated!

02-17-12: yet again we didn't get achievements for the valentine's day event this year, which is yet again extremely disappointing... but we did get one for gaia's ninth anniversary! go get it while it's still available!

01-22-12: added some contest achievements that were previously missing from the guide. i'll also mention that it's very disappointing that there weren't any achievements for the xmas event... hence why i haven't updated since halloween. ;w;

11-06-11: edited a minor error in coding! also, does anyone know about a third halloween event achievement? something about being on the same team the whole event?

10-28-11: added halloween event achievements i've managed to get so far, and adding more as i gain them.

10-25-11: this guide got extremely neglected, and i'm sorry about that. from here on out i'll try and keep up with new achievements as they're released! still, updates probably won't be too frequent...

↱ how to use this guide ↲
this list is not all in alphabetical order. rather, achievements are first ordered by type, then depending on what type they may be organized a certain way (for example, event achievements are ordered... by event!), and then finally they are listed in the order they are are unlocked.

for example:

gaia has a forum specifically for achievements. this is wonderful for everyone that kept on getting blocked from achieving in places such as the chatterbox. drop in and you'll be getting achievements in no time. :3

a few tips on this forum:
✘ do not purposefully mess up someone's thread, even as a prank. this is considered trolling, and it is a reportable offense.
✘ do not change until it has been confirmed the achievement a thread was going for has been achieved. if you change before the achievement is unlocked, then you will not get the achievement. neither will anyone else participating in the thread.
✘ on the flip side, if someone does post in a thread without meeting the requirements, it's possible they intend to change into what's required. (the achievement will still be granted if at some point everyone is meeting the requirement.) wait a moment to see if they change before reporting...
✘ however, even though it's possible to post in a thread and change, it's recommended you only post in threads you meet the requirements for to cut back on confusion and people getting upset with you.
✔ go for one achievement at a time. there seems to be a glitch where the system doesn't seem to understand you had met the requirements for one achievement if you're also meeting the requirements for another. (ex. sitting down and facing backwards for prayer circle while nude for nudist colony could conflict with gaining either achievement rather than granting both at once.) before you flame me calling bs, i'll say people are getting multiple achievements at once this way. however, people are still experiencing this glitch as well.

what are achievements?
achievements are badges you earn for doing various things around gaia. each has points attached to it, which add up to a whole. achievements themselves can even unlock things around the site.

what are points for?
as of right now, they're simply to say, "neener neener i have more points than you so i'm more cool than you are." eventually the number of points you have will unlock "cool things."

how do i make my achievements/points show up under my avatar in the forums?
on the achievements page, at the bottom, drag the three achievements you like best into the slots under your avatar. (you can't display more than three at a time.)

how do i make just my points show up, not my badges, or vice versa?
you can't at this time.

how do i make it so my points and badges are no longer visible under my avatar?
simply pull all the badges from their slots. (keep in mind this will not make it so no one can view your achievements from the drop down menu.)

how do i display my points/badges on my profile?
at this time, to my knowledge, there is no way to do that.

how do i view all of another person's achievements?
in the drop down menu under their avatar, select the achievements option.

i followed the instructions on the achievements page and your guide, but i'm not getting the achievement. how do i get it?
are you sure you have the one you're going for unlocked? the achievement must be in the "available achievements" section on the achievements page for you to even go after it.

these things are annoying! how do i turn achievements off?
you can't at this time as they have been moved out of beta stage fully integrated into the site. you can however turn off the notifications for every time you earn an achievements. the next time the window pops up, there is a checkbox at the bottom asking whether you'd like to see notifications or not. uncheck it.

you're missing an achievement.
am i? it's most likely because i haven't unlocked it yet. considering these are achievements, some of them i myself probably will never unlock, haha. so any info anyone can submit will be really helpful. you'll be credited, of course. <3

in firefox: right click the icon, and select "copy image location." paste in and voila!
in internet explorer: right click the icon, select "properties." there should be a box with that says location/url. copy the url, paste.
in google chrome: right click the icon, select "copy image url," paste.

i have some other info pertinent to this guide that's not on here...
