~Introduction~

Hello and welcome to Gaia Gaming Discussion!

The Gaia Gaming Discussion is the place for all Gaia related games EXCEPT Gaia Fishing. Threads about Gaia Slots are welcome here, but please read the Casino sticky before posting. Feel free to also speculate about what games the admins may release in the future such as the future relase of the Battle and Quest Systems.

Please read all the posts below as they contain the Rules and Guideline, FAQ, and about reporting threads/posts to moderators. 3nodding

~Rules and Guidelines~

To get an idea of what is allowed and permissible on Gaia Online, please read the Terms of Service and the Rules and Guidelines. Here are some guidelines more specific to this forum that should be stressed:

  • No general GAIA game topics, please. "Do you think Gaia will have games?? Discuss!!" The admins have already stated that more games are coming. That is why you are here. 3nodding General topics are basically just redundant to the purpose of the main forum, and another GAIA Gaming Discussion is not needed within GAIA Gaming Discussion. Anything such as this example will be sent to the Chatterbox:
    -------"Gaia needs games!!"

  • "Where are the games?" threads will be sent to Recycle Bin
We just get so many of these that if we sent them to the Q&A they'd get recycled there, so rather than have the thread moved by two people, we just recycle it ourselves.

  • Read a few pages of the forum before posting your topic. What you wish to talk about may already have a thread discussing it.

  • Please don't flame those who post topics within the wrong section. A neutral/friendly redirect is fine, but flaming is never okay. Please PM an online moderator or use the report system to have the topic moved to the correct section.

  • No bumping unless it fell off the first page.

  • Follow the Terms of Service. It's there for a reason!

  • Rants and topics made about how "Gaia is turning into Neopets!" will be moved to the Gaia Community Discussion. Rants are not necessarily game discussion, but a user commenting on the progress of the site, so they are unsuited to this forum.

  • Topics made about any games other than speculation on possible new Gaian games belong in the Gaming Discussion forum.

  • Don't make threads with misleading titles. "Come in here to earn 400g!" followed by "I think we should have a fighting game" is not acceptable.

  • Be as specific as possible! We do not need genres or catagories of games suggested. Adding "Gaia" onto the name of another game and suggesting it is not suitable GGD material. Anything like the following will be sent to the Chatterbox:
Gaia Halo, Checkers Gaia Style, Nintendogs for Gaia, Space Invaders on Gaia.

  • Please don't make threads on "Need help in Word Bump! Give some suggestions on words that start with letters ____ or contains letters ____ ". It is spam, and it is quite easy to find words that contains the letters you want. They will be moved to the Chatterbox.

  • If you are having problems with Word Bump, please go to Word Bump Bug Reports.

  • Do not post in threads that have been answered already. We do not need 4 people over the course of 5 hours saying the same thing.

~Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)~

Where are the games?/Are there games?
Gaia Fishing is Gaia's first minigame, but it has it's own forum for discussion found here.
We also have a Casino open on the Isle de Gambino, which currently has a slot machine game and black jack tables within it. Gaia Towns has been released with a bug catching game there. We also have a quest system and a battle system in the works for sure. 3nodding

What do I do with X item from Y game?
You can either sell it to another user, or you may be able to exchange it for another item. Read this sticky for more info!
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11226570

When are games coming?!
When they're finished, please be patient. sweatdrop

How do I play the casino?
Well, for the casino, the premise is this. Gold buys tokens. Bet tokens, win tickets. Trade tickets for prizes.

How do I catch bugs/pick flowers/collect trash?
First enter Gaia Towns (via the Barton Map). Then click on any items you find to put them in your rucksack. You can store 18 different items in your rucksack before it becomes full, however, you can hold as many of those items as you can catch! When you wish to transfer your catches from Towns to your inventory on Gaia follow this procedure: Open your inventory in Towns (it's the backpack icon), make sure it's finished loading all of your items (it may take up to a few minutes) and then click the smiling robot and tell it "yes" you want to save your items to your main inventory. Then they will show up on the main site. smile
To learn what these items can be made into please read this sticky: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11226570

How do I earn gold?
By doing anything on Gaia, but please, ask questions about Gaia in the Questions and Assistance forum.

Can Gaia make more games?
sweatdrop They're working on it as fast as they can, we can't do anything but wait.

Gaia should have more games!
Hey, that's not a question. But, see the previous answer please. If you want to suggest games for them to make, go ahead, otherwise...it's kind of a waste of a board. 3nodding

Hey! Why doesn't this work? Fix it?
If you're reporting for towns, please use this sticky: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12041956

<center>~Reporting Threads and Posts to Moderators~</center>

There will be at times where a thread is misplaced and/or violates the ToS (Terms of Service). In the bottom left corner beside the Subscribe to Thread button, you will see the Report this thread button. This is where you can report threads that needs to be dealt with by a moderator.

Posting remarks like "STFU n00b" or "Wrong forum" doesn't help get the thread moved any faster, so please, just report it, and leave the rest to us.

We kindly ask that if reporting a thread, to please not use the Report this post button, as they are designed for reporting post that needs to be taken care of instead of the whole thread.

If you prefer to report the thread/post to a moderator via PM, you can click "View Forum Moderators" near at the top of the forum.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewforum_moderators.php?f=140 <= List of the moderators for Gaia Gaming Discussion. whee

Please PM an online moderator if reporting, and they will get to your report as soon as possible. 3nodding

<center>~What Threads Belong in Which Forum~</center>

There are quite a few commonly misplaced threads in Gaia Gaming Discussion and this is a little clarification of which commonly misplaced threads should go:

Videogame Threads: The most misplaced threads in GGD. They belong in the Gaming Discussion (or one of its subforums, depending on the topic).

NPC, Storyline, Avatar Threads: These threads belong in Gaia Community Discussion (or in Avatar Talk if discussing about avatars.)

Roleplaying Threads: These threads belong in Barton Town or one of its subforums depending on topic.

Guild Threads: These belong in the Gaia Guilds or one of its subforums.

Spam/Finding a boyfriend/girlfriend/friends etc: These threads belong in Chatterbox.

Asking for Gold/Items: These threads belong in Charity/Quests.

A little note that, some of those threads may be sent to Recycle Bin instead as they would be a thread that has been done over and over before.

How to Report Abuse/Harassment/Non PG-13 Content in Gaia Slots/Fishing.
What to Report

For example, if the title is in Spanish (and offensive) and you know what the translation is, that'd be very helpful for us to know.

To Ignore a User:

1. Click on the head of the Avatar at the top of the room
2. Click "IGNORE USER" on the menu

If you put someone on Ignore by mistake or want to talk to them again, you can Stop Ignoring the user.

To Stop Ignoring a User:
3. Click on the head of the Avatar at the top of the room
4. Click "STOP IGNORE" on the menu

Reminder: The report system should only be used for real reports! False reports or using the system improperly may lead to your account being warned or banned. icon_sad.gif Moderators review all reports, if you honestly report something on accident, the Mod who reads the report will be able to see this and ask you to pay attention in the future and only report when needed.

Thanks to Dri and the other admins for the announcement (found here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11856831 ) from which parts of this guide are derived. smile
