Start in the easiest lake, Bassken. Fish until you're comfortable doing it. For instance, you're getting a fish at least once every 4 or 5 casts (the casts when you something's on the end of your line, that is). When it comes to rods, you're always better off with an upgraded one. However, a lot of people differ with what kind of rod they like to use, as they each come with pros and cons. That's a matter testing it out for yourself.

If you're using a touchpad on a laptop, try zooming in a bit to get better rod control. Or grab a chorded mouse for less lag.
